  • need help please!

i was driving my 93/3.1 lumina the other day,and she stalled at a light i, got her to go to the next light, then she stalled and wouldent start, found out the upper radiator hose had come off,and i didnt even know!,so after letting her cool down for about a half hour,i filled the radiator and popped the hose back on(in that opposite order) then i threw her in neutral and coasted down the hill to the autoparts store, where i proceeded to get a screwclamp to hold the hose on,i let the car cool down for 2hrs! (still warm to the touch!) then i screwed the house on and went on my way,the car seemed to run pretty rough, but the oil looked good and she blew no smoke,so i assumed it would be fine.......so i drive her for about a hour, and just when im pulling up to a light....STEAM POURS OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD!,i park it at a gasstaion, let it cool off AGAIN!(can u tell i was pretty pissed by now!) then when i inspect it,i find out that somehow the pressure got so great in the radiator,it blew the hose off, with 2 INCHES OF RADIATOR NECK STILL IN IT!,so im going to a junkyard in about 3hrs to get another radiator, and hose,so my question is,was it the thermostat sticking that caused it??? thats all i can think,so when i put the new radiator in,im removing the thermostat, and guesses as to what else it could be or someone to confirm my guess, would be greatly appreciated.,thanks again, and sorry about how long winded this was!

Radiator was probably clogged and cracked somewhere causing a weakspot for the neck to pop off. Old age does this to them, unfortunately its normal.

id suggest getting a new radiator if you can, if you get a junkyard one then you run the risk of this happening again in the not to distant future.
    I modify stuff
