The autos are much easier to get strength out of I think. But the ultimate auto transaxle is that th-425? IIRC that came in eldorados. Advantage of a longitudinal drivetrain and it's a trans that actually has gone 9s.

At the time, there were transaxles breaking at about 350 HP/similar torque, but most clutches that would fit wouldn't hold up to anything near that, and didn't want to go to an unsprung clutch.

wow, looks like a pretty good conversion, never expected it to look that good using the truck frame, but didn't think of cutting it up either.
