cool video. looks like you got some nice streets to drive on..
if i can figure out a way to mount my camera to me or the bike i'll make one.. just thought of this but i could try and weld a bolt to the bike that fits the bottom of the camera.
also ordered this tire. went with this one for the smoother on payment ride. the tire i have now didn't do too bad in the woods it just didn't unload the mud too quickly. it's 2" bigger in diameter than the tire i have now which will get the sprocket and chain away from the pavement. some of the bumps i could feel the chain bottoming out.

put the new tire on. either they sent the wrong one or had the wrong pic in the listing. anyways it was the agressive tread i wanted to try anyways so..it's not a lumpy roll when i slow rolled across the garage and it doesn't seem like it hurt the acceleration from the quick run i did in the garage.
also fixed the unbalanced washers the guy who made this thing used on the rear hub. he had like 4 on one bolt 3 on another and 2 on the rest. he had the 4 because he was too lazy to cut the bolt length down. got lucky on the tube and he used one meant for a 15" tire in the 13" tire that was on there.
welded some crap pipe i had to the end of the muffler. haven't done any real driving testing but it probably won't stay that long. the pipe quiets it down a bit..
stripped the orange crap off the forks and hit it with some black for the time being. eventually when i get done welding i'll strip the whole thing down and paint it. looks way better without the orange. the sheet metal over the rear tire won't be staying i just gotta find a piece of metal to weld in there..

I bet it's because my muffler is right in the exhaust port, it's about the same loudness as before but has a nasty almost straight piped Harley sound.
great use of jack stands!
my neighbor has one of these in his garage that's broken, i'm trying to talk him out of it... i think i can cram a small clone in it .. http://www.toysrus.com/buy/bikes-sco...512803-3179512

the jack stands are my indoor kickstand..lol still have yet to address that problem.. outside i usually just find a rock to lean it against on one of the foot pegs..
maybe it's because my pipes like a foot and a half long. gonna try cutting it down to maybe a foot. i'll try and get some videos of it with the long pipe then short pipe and then muffler alone. with no muffler it's stupid loud.
once i get the welding all done i'm gonna bust out the sand blaster and get rid of all the crap on there.. i'm also gonna put together a tire, rim and sprocket setup with a turf tread style tire so i can just swap them out when i want.. found out one thing though the sprocket is heavier than the whole tire, rim combo. lol
that little dirt bike would be cool..should be able to fit something like the motor i got now in there. anything bigger and it would probably be hard to ride..
was thinking of picking up one of those 212cc predator motors from harbor freight and building a kart around that. they always seem to be on sale for $100. i was looking at the 346cc motor they sell but it's like double the weight of what i got now. might be good for a kart but the bike not so muchLast edited by geldartb; 06-09-2013, 07:50 AM.sigpic

the 212's are great for the price. they've built a whole racing class around them.
my 390 is just stupid heavy, something like 75 lbs fully dressed. The torque is amazing though, totally worth the added weight.

yeah i was browsing harbor freight a few weeks back and they actually give good specs on the motors. the 212cc was like 35lbs and the 346cc was like 75lbs. the extra weight wouldn't be as much of an issue with the kart but with something like my bike it could be a problem.. actually was looking at the 346cc one in the store and trying to visualize if i could stuff it where my gx140 sits..
$100 for a brand new motor why not..lol i would probably go the performance route with that one. could see a nice little performance motor being built out of it.
certain scenarios the extra torque would be nice.
when i had the back of this scooter apart i was thinking i could mount the smaller motor like 212 on the frame. it's got a pretty sturdy frame that i could reinforce where needed..since it's got room for batteries already i would try and add a keyed starter.
you can see the scooter in the background.. it's got a sprocket setup similar to my mini bike. got this for free from a guy at work. lol was gonna pick up a trailer hitch and ball and turn it into a yard hauler. it will happen whether in it's current form or with the gas motor.

lol, I see those scooters all the time at work. That would be tons of fun with an engine on it.
Here is what i'm currently up to.. http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthr...318#post275318
6 HP Kawasaki carb on a steel intake to old Briggs Flathead. Should be much better than the old stock carb.

nice little project you got going on..
for now i'll probably get batteries for the scooter then before the end of the year i'll try and do the motor thing. haven't dug into the rear yet but it would be cool if i could make the rear a locker or some kind of posi. right now the rear on the scooter is an open style diff.sigpic

Weld it!

my thoughts exactly..haven't dug into it yet. hopefully it's metal gears and not some plastic shit but considering it's made to haul around large individuals (at least from what i see at walmart) i would think it would have metal gears.sigpic

I used to have a mini bike just like this when I was 15-16 but I put a 3.5hp honda ohv engine like you guys have. Meet knew gear ratio or anything like that back then. Just put a 14" port matched straight pipe for exhaust. And believe I connected the throttle cable around the governor.
Any ways that thing would do 62mph. And I put bmx bicycle pegs on the rear so I could crouch for aerodynamics. Lol. Also for riding wheelies. Fastest wheelie I ever did on it was 40mph.
My son has a Murray 2 seater go cart frame laying around. We have been toying with the idea of building a "rock crawler" style cart utilizing a mid mounted vertical shaft 21hp Briggs vtwin and 2 riding mower differentials. After reading this I think we will get it out and do something with it. Will keep y'all updated.
