Ok so they are unable to come up with other numbers and letters to use? LT1 again....really?
Must have spent millions banging around other combos and ended up with the samething. I love how people get paid huge ammounts and do nothing and that leads to higher costs.

You're upset that they reused 2 letters and 1 number? Haha

They have done that more than once. Guess they could just call all engines LT1's and that would make things easy.
I'm upset because I know that it cost millions to come up with the samething. Also I'm sure it took months.
I ask you how long would it take and how much would it cost you to come up with something new? How about LT13?
        I now have an LT1 V6 and a LT1 L4. Also my mower has an LT1.
I'm selling LT1 heads, buy at your own risk. They may not work with your LT1.

I'm pretty sure the LS6 is an ancient small block as well. I doubt it took them months to come up with LT1 haha. Maybe they did it because they're driving a fuel pump off the cam like the last one drove the water pump? Does it really matter to GM what it's called as long as they can tell the difference?? I think it matters more to enthusiasts.

Besides, by the time the new LT1s are being modified it would probably be significantly more difficult to find 90s LT1s in decent shape. They were only made for 5 years after all.

How many people complained about confusion when the 90s LT1s came out?

people were excited about the 90s LT1 because it was YEARS ahead of the L98 it replaced.... then the LS1 leapfrogged it.

anyways, GM did release a press statement about why the called it LT1, but i can't find it ATM.

The earlier LS6 was a big block.

There’s been considerable blogosphere buzz this week about GM’s resurrection of the LT1 engine name for the all-new Gen 5 Small Block that will power the 2014 Corvette. So, with the reintroduction of the LT1, we couldn’t help but wonder aloud how and why the name was selected. Find out why, here!

                  there we go.

“There’s a group within GM that is charged with assigning RPO codes to engines, transmissions, etc. – whether it’s the new 2.5L Ecotec engine for the Malibu or the Corvette’s engine – and they selected it with approval from the Small Block’s chief engineer,” says Read.
“Obviously, the decision makers take heritage into account on certain new engines, like the Gen 5 Small Block, but it really boils down to a practical matter on the available designations and how they could be applied to the new engine family.”

“The LS series was retiring and the LT designation had heritage that made sense for the Small Block, which has been around for nearly sixty years,” says Read. “The new engine could have easily been name LG1 or LD1 or something like that, but that just wouldn’t have seemed right for a new Small Block and the next Corvette.”

                  so..... heritage.

LOL I bitched in the 90's about the new LT1 and later about the LS6 small block.
I see your point though, they don't care as long as they know what they are talking about.

I see you don't know how big business works. Talk, study, talk, study(this goes on and on) and then a conclusion. We will have green napkins at the Christmas party. For the next few months we will be working on tablecloths(color and size). Next year we will work on a name for a new product this year is booked solid.

I once worked for a company that pulled us of the line to show us a self promotion video. They even got Sugar Ray to change their lyrics to the comany name("company name" is aiming high, high, higher than high). I wonder how long it took them to put all that together. Talk about wasting time and money.

Nah it's just SOP(standard operating procedure). Or the main problem with big business.
