I'm not a music guy. But I have one I recently employed and I want your opinion.
I bought a cheap pioneer deck, amp, and 4 speakers for the wifes car for mom's day.
1 set of pre-outs on deck.
the amp is a 4-channel 400 watt with 2 rca inputs. and has 2 plugs for "highs" inputs that use the deck's normal speaker wires as input.
Here's what I did.
I ran the 4 pair of speaker wires back to the amp and hooked them into the little plugs they supplied, then ran new speaker wire to each speaker off the 4-channels from the amp. Didn't use the rca jack at all.
Here's what my sound guy wanted me to do:
Run the speaker wires from the deck to the speakers.
Run the RCA to the amp from the deck.
Run addition speaker wires from the amp to the same speakers and hook into them with the deck speaker wires.
I don't know much about stereos. But this seems wrong to me as the speakers would be getting both deck amperage/music signal and the same from the amp right? Wouldn't this be like wiring two hots to the same lead? Would the amp even be putting out the right signal to the speakers this way?
