  • Timing chain

I have an 3400 05 Grand Am Gt and it was recommended to me by a few people to get a 99 timing chain because they are more robust and will hold up longer. But can anyone tell me if I will run in to clearance issues by going with this chain? I plan on getting the whole 99 Cloyes kit from Orielly's for $52.99. The only concern is fitment of course and want to be sure everything will fit correctly and not cause any problems but why is the 05 chain kit so much more expensive at 105.99?

Only get the 99 chain set from GM, not Cloyes. The aftermarket ones suck. GM partsdirect sells the chain and both gears separately.

You will not have clearance problems, they fit fine. I've had one on my '04 3500 for 6 years.

I'll look into the gm ones then. I'm sure I don't want to have to redo it again anytime soon.
