  • What's everyones rig and operatng system?

Well I'll start off with my gaming rig.

    Windows 7 64-bit

    BIOSTAR TA870U3+ AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition CPU
    Two sticks of G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
    Single ASUS Radeon CUCore 5770
    Western Digital 1TB HD
    hec X-Power Pro 600 600W power supply

All housed in a AeroCool case. I forgot what model but it's discontinued.

My laptop is a lenovo 14"

Dual boot Windows 7 32-bit and Ubuntu 32-bit ( I used Ubuntu more, battery lasts longer)

I don't know much specs about it but it has 4GB of ram and is running on a AMD triple core CPU.

I love my gaming rig but it can't run FSX maxed out. I mean it's not a slouch of a machine, it runs Skyrim maxed and gets 70fps.

Upgraded it not too long ago...

HAF 912 ATX Mid tower case
Corsair H80 CPU water cooling system
    Intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz SandyBridge CPU
ASRock Z68 Extreme 7 Gen3 board (will support Ivy Bridge when it's released)
    OCZ SSD system 120gb drive
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB 2133mhz
Antec 900w High Current Gaming Power Supply
    Going together

Pics of it up and running...

A few more pics after cleaning up some wires...

Currently OC'd at 4.4Ghz and hitting it in prime 95 and temps haven't gone over 61* and the cooling system is not on full blast either, I have it on mid level to keep the noise down.

Yeah I built that and don't have time to game... lol

I use it more for Media Center than anything, I have a 50ft HDMI cable running to my 65" TV as well as an optical audio cable going to the surround sound system.

All I can say is I'm MUCH happier with buying everything brand new with a warranty.... All my other setups have been used parts, OR EVGA stuff from ebay which wont carry a warranty since they are non transferable, so you need to buy direct or a dealer. The cards in this rig I got from Ebay and want to upgrade to dual 560's but I just can't justify spending the money if I don't game with it much. They do everything I want as it is, and the system itself is way faster than what I used to have.

            120gb mushkin chronos deluxe SSD
once i swap the drives over i will be swapping my gtx460 over too. in the very bottom slot is (not in picture) a 7950GT to power the 3rd monitor. it's a low power card and doesn't make more heat than it's worth.

            watercooling stuff

            EK Supreme HF full copper
mix of mostly distilled with some anitfreeze. never had a problem with this mixture and have been using it since i started watercooling. the last loop i pulled apart was together untouched for over 2yrs and had no buildup anywhere.

haven't swapped over my drives and 460gtx from my main rig so for the time being i threw the 8800gts 640mb in there.

the 74gb raptor was just being used for a temp download dumping ground till the other drives get swapped over. if anyone has ever used one of these knows how loud they are, with the rubber grommet mounting system for the drives it quiets it down like a normal drive.

also still have the rig that this replaced
            qx9650
            8gb ram
            now has the 8800gts

            EDIT
got a couple of dell desktops nothing special....one has a c2d e6600 and the other has a penitum d 940.
couple of dell servers got the poweredge 1800 for free from the teacher of the class i took and the 2800 i got cheap.
couple of old socket 939 boards with cpu's and ram. all they would need is a video card and a psu.

Mines about 5-6 years old, lol.

              Windows 7 Pro
              Cheapo ebay case
              Asus A8N32-SLi deluxe mobo
              Amd X64 X2 3800+ CPU (2.0Ghz stock but running 24-7 @2.7Ghz on air)
              Freezer Pro 64 heatsink/fan
2Gb DDR Corsair XMS Pro PC4400?LL maitched pair of ram with activity LEDs
              320Gb SATA2 Seagate barricuda hdd
              Evga 8600GT 512Mb GDDR3
Antec True Power Trio 650w triple rail PSU
Arctic cooling 120mm case fan in the rear
2x Arctic cooling 80mm fans in the top and side
2x cheapy LED fans that came in the cheapo ebay case in the front
Logitech cordless wave keyboard and mouse combo

It's an old system, but it still does what I need it to when the video card isn't popping capacitors. Also i'm one of the unfortunate souls to get stuck between MS and Evga on the crashing drivers problem, so the next pc is going to use an ATI card since I need windows. I would have built one this spring, but I miss driving my car and we didn't get back as much as I expected on our taxes.

well, here is my pile of awesome that i built for the wife to do "online college" with.... that lasted a whopping 3 months.

                Biostar TA780G M2+ MB
                AMD Phenom 9500 CPU
                Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB HD
                Apex PC-319 ATX Black Case

ASUS VW192T+ 19" 1680X1050 DVI Monitor (BTW: junk, don't even buy an ASUS monitor)
SoundBlaster Audigy SE soundcard (for the LULZ)
Win Vista Ultimate x64 (7 had issues on this system, no idea why)

no video card, since i was on a rather tight budget when it was thrown together, however, the only two upgrades i'm going to be doing to it before leaving it alone until something breaks is a Phenom II X4 945(highest the board supports) and a ~$100 video card(IIRC, the , when i feel the need to acquire one. i've been eyeing the 6770s, seem to be excellent deals.

does some awesome number crunching/video encoding as-is, but..... moar.

EDIT: as for laptop: Acer 5720Z.... busted to hell, but it still works. paid ~$530 for it back in early 2008.
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

Air cooling < Water cooling < triple cascade cooling (refrigerant based). Triple cascade can get the CPU down to -100*. Yes, NEGATIVE one hundred degrees.
