    So my wife has a 01 sunfire gt, a head light burn out, so i decided to get her HID's because i care about her, and the stock headlights suck out of the box, which give poor lighting epesially in the rain, can't see a damin thing when the roads wet.

    Anyways, i got a friend to get me this HID kit for 100$, suppousivly plug n play, so the first kit i got had 2 differently wired bulbs, second kit had a different wiring aswell, so i toyed with the plugs, moved the pins to see if it would work properly. They are a intigrated low beam high beam bulbs, lows are the HID, highs are a small halogen bulb.

    Now i cant seem to get them to work properly with any configuration of moving the pins, what happens is i rather get only highs (hids) and lows will be the HID's flickering OR move the pins and get only lows, and 1 HID, if i put in normal bulbs they work fine. How ever i have to make this kit work somehow, and its beyond me to figure it out. does anyone have an idea or heard of this issue? i threw one box out so i have to make one kit work or i'm out $ I've looked at wiring diagrams, and the sunfire is so stupid for how the highs and lows work. I think i would have to wire in a relay but i dont want the SVS light on. maybe a kit is out there? Google has lead me nowhere.

    Have you tried directly wiring each part of each bulb directly to power to take the car's wiring out of the equation? If the bulbs don't work directly wired then there is your problem. If they work fine then you can try to diagnose why the car's wiring wont work, perhaps bad grounding that works well enough for the standard bulbs but not the HID. Any damage to insulation or moisture working its way under the insulation where it is stripped back for the wire to go into the connector can cause corrosion and increase resistance, which could cause enough of a voltage drop to cause issues with the HID's. Checking the voltage and perhaps wiggling the wires to see if it causes fluctuations on the volt meter would be a good start to diagnose a wiring issue.

    In one part you explain the HID's are the low beam, then later seem to describe the HID's as the high beam, so it's kinda hard to narrow down the issue. I have never looked into or dealt with HID's, so there is a bit of ignorance there on my part. Are there any instructions either with the kit or online that shows the wiring that you can label what problem occurs when you attach X wire to the new lights? As long as the blubs indeed aren't the issue, then it can probably be worked out if we know what light has what problem with what wire attached.

      And are these HID ballast kits with bulbs ? Also pontiacs are negative ground triggered lights , so of the Jap lights /projecrtor may be wired backward

      Sunfire and cavalier and IIRC grand am and alero share the same headlight wiring
      But dont run these without diablimg the DRL or a relay kit , the DRL"s are 10.8 volts and HID's dont like low voltage it will burn the bulbs /ballasts out pretty quickly

        i havent disabled the DRL, i was going to do that next.
        sorry to make things confusing to understand, but i have flipped around the 3 wires for the bulbs that are supplying power and 2 grounds. stock head lamps work absolutly fine how ever, so theres the haunted sunfire headlight issue out the door, but it seems like somethings missing weirdly, if you dont have the passenger side bulb in the drivers doesnt work properly, so ground goes through a filiment and then over to the other bulb, if the bulb isnt in or burnt out, the lights would do stupid things. i'm windering about jumping the grounds from left to right bulbs, theoretically it might work. to explain the problem is almost impossible as how if i move the wiring around the problem changes, so, as it sits right now low beams are the HID's, they work fine, switch to high beams an they just flicker, and the high beam(halogen bulb) doesnt light at all, if i swap the grounds, the halogens light up on low beam, but the HID's on high beam flicker.

          welcome to the world of negative trigger or cross ground headlights LOL and look at the bottom of the page on the first link you posted thats the rely harness you will need 10 bucks
          and one of the links i posted will help you diable the DRL's and the ACL's Then you should be plug and play

            Agreed. It is just like a loose ground in a sound system and the speakers start pulsing. The switched ground causes your trouble. A relay should fix it. I personally like OEM automotive relays. A lot of aftermarket ones can be hit or miss depending on the source.

              guess i'm going to build my own harness, i really wish someone would come out with micro relays that are water proof...
              anyone think i could still use the power from the stock headlight for a clean install? then i could whip this whole harness up really easy

                Yeah you could use the stock wiring to trigger the relay. All you would need is power to go through the load side to the lights. Just try to keep relays away from the radiator, as the heat will shorten their life span GREATLY! You can also use duct tape and wrap it in foil for some protection from water and heat. I cannibalized wiring on my friend's truck that was used for fog lights when I replaced his mechanical fan with 2 electric fans. I knew it was a stupid place to put the relays but didn't have time to fuss with it. Ended up rewiring the whole thing a few months later when one of the cheap relays died.

                    also i would use bosch relay with the mounting tabs and put them on the fenderwell
