  • Geo Storm.(eeewwwww)

A neighbor owns a ...(ewwww)...Geo Storm, 92, 2.6. Does that sound right? He keeps breaking downpipes on the exhaust. He has replaced all motor mounts and had this fixed 3 times since. I told him to buy a real car, but he said this is a real car. I said it is not a real car, it is a rice eater. He said he likes rice so...He said it has the spring loaded bolts on the manifold mounts. I have never been under it, and I don't want to be. He's got like 10 million watts of butt thumpers and is in love with his car! So...Has anyone ever had any experience with this problem? I feel so dirty...........

Tell him it's a disposable car, like paper plates........ use them once and throw them away. Tell him he'd be doing himself a favor. POS.

Ah, the storms ain't that bad. I hear they can handle quite well, but unfortunately the only direct contact I've had with one was the one my sis had back in '92, which she totaled after about a year of owning it.

down pipe or exhast manifold? They usaly crack down the center.

I owned a geo stom for years and broke several Emanifolds and burned through a couple of downpipes. They run too rich. I leaned out the mix by enlarging the hole in the butterfly blade and that cured my problem with the downpipe but I never could keep the manifold from cracking evry few months untill I had a header made and jetcoated.
the cars really do have allot of potintail as long as you don't have the auto.

By the way tell your buddy that if he buys isuzu parts they will last longer than the gm parts. for the most part the stoms cross refernce with the stylus

if it is the down pipe, check to see if there is a flex tub. but there has always been problems with the manifold's. i fixed that problem with a turbo kix!

I love the "steal-me" stickers I makes it alot easier for people to jack your car. It removes the guess work, because they can do an appraisel without even popping the hood.

actualy the geos w/a sohc engine put around 100-120 to the ground stock.I can't remeber exactly, bvvut know mine was pushing 200 before the turbo. The cars weight practicly nothing so a little hp goes a long way. My 3 door wagon weighed around 2000.
Much better than most of the cars in the same class that put 90 to the ground in the same years.

The problem isn't the car, it's boneheaded people that thinck they know everything about car. Most don't even know what end of the wrench to use.
