  • Possible unexpected move

Ok, today about noon a guy in his 20's was killed (stabbed) today in my condo building. I live on the floor above this guy, and I have not found out who he is yet. I also don't know the nature of the whole thing either. I haven't heard of this happening in this building before. Actually I've lived here for almost a year now and It's been really quiet.

My concern is should I move out? My lease is up at the end of the month so nows the time. I don't want to move out I like it here, but damn this shit is fucked. I don't like the idea of seeing my building on the news with cops crawling all over it.

hmm... i better phone my 22 year old brother who is staying at my sisters in Edmonton for the summer...

then i'll get back to you on what you should do...

ok EDIT, you said condo.. she lives in an apartment...

that is a bit fuct.. dont know what i'd do. i mean i doubt your next on the list of "bad tennants" so i wouldnt worry. i mean they'll probably get your next door neighbour first. :P unless your living in a sketchy neighbourhood stick it out i guess. unless its that unnerving that it bothers you that much. then maybe move.

in winnipeg last year some dood that lived in some appartment building was all fuct up and went out of his mind and lopped off his neighbours hands with a machette...

i cant imagine having your hands sliced off in one swift quick cut by a fucking machette...

The subdivision I moved to about a month ago has a trailer park right next to it (ie, like 1 street over from me) that has had 2 fatal shottings in the past 6-8 months. And to make things even more f'ed up, the girl that was driving the suspect on the highway when they caught them was supposed to start work at my job the day after the last shooting happened (~2 weeks ago). Needless to say, we didn't hire her after all...

It's a totaly "secure" building so who ever did it must have been invited in. All entrances have camera's. The main entrance camera is linked to the cable network so you can watch who you are buzzing in. The main door keys and parkade key are "uncopyable" Abloy keys. The only thing we don't have is a camera on all floors and in the elevators. I suppose that maybe a doorman is another option. Fuckin' Crazies.

If I were you, I'd stay.
Your building has had its killing for the year (or decade). Now your safe.
What are the odds of it happening again if its a decent neighbourhood?

If there is as much security in the building as you say there is, then this was probly a planed thing for the person who got stabed.

A normal everyday home theif or someone who wants to kill someone would normaly do it in a place thats easier to get too.

Talked to a cop friend of mine... he said there was another shooting there this past week involving 4 people. Oddly though, no one got shot. A 12-ga shotgun was even involved. How the hell do you miss with a shotgun??!! Well, since no one got shot, they just burned a car instead (drove by and saw that today).

Oh, and for those wondering... I live in a small (~40,000 people w/o students) college town in the middle of Kansas.

That might be a bit difficult, since he's canadian.

Nope, concealed weapons of any kind are kinda illegal around here. You can have heat in your house, but only certain types are allowed. You need a special liscense to own a hand gun. But even if you do own a gun you have to have it and the cartridges locked separatily.

Anyway, I got the goods on what happened in my building. Here goes, Some poor bastard was over watering his brothers plants because he was out of town. Then some crazy, probably cracked out, 15 year old girl decides she wants to stick a big ass nife in his chest. It happened at noon right in the hallway, some people heard the screams and called 911. By the time the cops got there he was already unconcious. He died on the way to the hospital. The girl was not from the building either, WTF? Then (not to my previous knowledge) I find out that this is the second murder in this building. 3 Years ago some guy was beaten to death in his suite, that case remains "unsolved". I think I'm going to move. I don't imagine that there are many other buildings in this city that have had 2 murders in 3 years.

I'd stay. It's gotta be better than Dayton, Oh. Hell our local news is 2 hrs long just covering crackheads and and their violence. Last year a guy stabbed and killed his own Mother because she wouldn't give him 10 bucks for dope! It's a sad world! The DWI rate is so high around here the bicycle shops make a fortune! I have seen people smoking crack at fuckin' stoplights! We just passed a law allowing us to carry a concealed weapon. At least NOW I am legal with it!!
