I ventured into Pro Motor in Goshen today to check on the prices of battery relocation kits for my car (I did find a wiring kit along with ring terminals and battery terminals for $69.99 with 15' + and 2' - 2 ga.) and saw they had a dyno. They also had a SWEEEET blue 427 AC Cobra. I've no idea if it was a reproduction (I'm sure it is), but either way, it was sweet. While drooling on the window over the Cobra I noticed a roller in the floor.(!!!) I asked how much and they said $100 for 3 pulls with wideband logging. I didn't even think to ask how much per hour. So what does everyone pay for dyno time in your areas?

Yaeh, about that but 3 pulls turns into 4 or 5 if we are showing good progress on the tuning and its about done. Not sure on hourly, but we want to rent the dyno for a day sometime to get as many numbers as we can on various cars.
Find out what kind of dyno it is, as some are better than others. Especially for tuning (load bearing is key).Ben

Well, see, I'm thinking of returning it to stock form, minus the heads, and doing a baseline pull before I do a whole lot. I should have gotten a baseline years ago, but I don't think there were any dynos around me then.
EDIT: Ninja'd by Ben. It's a Dynojet, and it's fairly new because it's in a new addition onto their building. I've no clue on the model or load capability. I'll email them and ask.
EDIT #2: Email sent. Asked what model, can it load the car for computer tuning and what their rates were.Last edited by pocket-rocket; 08-04-2011, 03:27 PM.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

$40 1st pull and $10 each after with wideband logging.. and if you bring a thumb drive they load your dyno sheets onto it so you don't have to scan the paper...
the only thing i don't like about the place i go is that they don't use the spark pickup, it uses the drum RPM to calculate engine RPM and the graph is always off by a few hundred RPM's above 5K. Also a dynojet

That sounds like a much better price.
Still no word back from the place via email...-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

its like $65 for 3 pulls around here, or on dyno days its $40. dyno jet seems like the "braging rights dyno" only good for numbers and they read higher than the others from what i have been told. dyno dynamics and mustang dyno are the only two load dynos i can think ofsigpic

Yeah, I thought $100 for 3 pulls sounded high. Too bad I still haven't heard back from them yet with their full price listing. I thought they would have been more reasonable price wise seeing how they only want $70 for a battery relocation wiring kit.
Thanks for the input-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

You get what you pay for sometimes. Having nice equipment costs money. It was not cheap at exotic performance plus in columbia city but it was a VERY nice setup and they didn't charge extra if it was a little over an hour. The place in Warsaw charges for the time since you walk in the door and hook up and everything. Considering the information gained from the time spent though, it wasn't bad either I care more about tuning than just dyno numbers though, which makes a difference.Ben
