  • Fuel pump question

Does anyone know if the pump I had in my 94 Corsica will work in a 01 Sunfire? I think my wifes is about to go and I have my Walbro sitting around here somewhere. I dont care that its a performance pump I just need to know that it will install into the assembly and work.

The fuel pump should work but it might take a bit of fussing to get it to fit. I can't tell from the pics on rock auto, but from my experience doing something similar in an S-10, the plug to power the pump may be slightly different. It might fit with slight trimming with a razor or if you have the housing the old pump was in you can swap the wires over. I didn't have any luck removing the hose without damaging it so be prepared to replace the hose from the pump to the top of the housing. I would definitely use a new sock for the replacement pump since they are cheap. The pump I replaced looked a bit different and the wiring had been severely hacked by the previous owner but I ran larger gauge wire for power and ground and it worked perfectly.

Not exactly sure what the little hose is on the newer fuel pumps but I had no problem using a pump for a 95 Impala SS in a 2002 S-10.

We tried a replacement pump only in the Achieva just to have those stupid flexi-straw like hoses leak and be a complete pain in the rear. The fixer was a new complete sending unit after a failed attempt or two to get them to stop leaking internally in the tank.
