It's like that in a lot of states. We studied a few different cases back in a business law class I had. I don't remember why it was brought up in a business law class though..............

As f'd up as this is, you can't rig a gun to shoot perpetrators who might be entering your house. I studied it back in torts class... it was the spring-loaded gun case. Someone rigged the shotgun to go off at the front door if someone broke into their house (this person was off on vacation for a week). Someone broke in and they lost their head. The court found the house owner guilty even though the owner was trying to protect their house. The court said you have no right to use deadly force to protect possessions, only yourself. You can't use deadly force to protect yourself unless you are being threatened by someone and you think you are in imminent danger of deadly peril (or something like that).

To me, it makes no sense, but I don't make the law..

When I got my gun I asked what the stipulations are when someone breaks into my house, when can I shoot them (wow, I acutally sound anxious to shoot someone, huh? lol). That's the one. I think it was shot in Oregon. But, If a MF comes into my house, and they get by Taco Dog, (Alarm System) and if they are lucky enough to get by Nova, (Full bred Timberwolf, she would give her life) Then they have to deal with me.
