  • Anyone else home due to the weather?

Figured since this snow storm covers like half of the nation, surely there are more of you out there that are home from work/school/whatever today. I went in for ~4hrs this morning, before the snow really started coming down. Maybe a quarter of the company was there, and basically no one else in my department. I finished up some work I wanted to get done, then drove home. About a mile from my house, my windshield wipers stopped working (ice ended up piling up and around the arms at the base of the window), so that made the last mile... interesting.

Figure I'll post up some pictures in a little while, maybe of the dogs out playing or something.

I envy anybody who can see the world renewed with the fall of fresh, white snow... I can't tell you how monotonous and boring year ' round warm weather can be... and I can also tell you that its heating up down here quite a bit in more ways than one. Within the last hour ...I've had an AWACS jet flying over my house close enough to rattle the bricks in my chimney... I wonder what is going on over in Egypt for THAT to be necessary... Hmmm... Brad... stay cool up there, Brother...

I might be tomorrow. They are calling for 4-18 inches at a rate of 2 inches an hour tonight. It's looked all day like it's ready to let loose any time now.

We are still getting it, although it comes and goes in strength. The wind is what's getting bad here. Tonight, we are looking at single digit temps with windchills nearing -10*F. Fun, fun...

Oh, and I took the dogs out a bit ago, and brought the camera. Went to go take some pictures, and what do you know, the SD card was still in the house. So maybe next time...

I forgot to add high winds here too. Enough so they are calling for blizzard like conditions. It's been drifting what little snow we already have around too. Kokomo got rain earlier, so that's really going to suck for them later when the temps drop. Car ice-skating, anyone?

And so it begins. It's not big flakes, but it's blowing like crazy and starting to come down good. I estimate we have about a quarter mile visibility at the moment and it's starting to come down pretty good.

You're sad that you're going to miss out on the 20+" of snow they're forecasting here.....

I'm at home, but after going to work, doing reverse donuts in the parking lot, picking up 1000 lbs of salt in the rusty trusty wagon, going to get beer and smokes, and probably go out and get chicken at Lees. It's just ice and snow. I'm sure more snow fell in other places though. We get mostly ice. More to come, so if this message ends abruptly, the power went ou

Just kidding, but tomorrow AM may be another story. I'd rather have the snow. F**k Florida

we are getting nailed twice one storm today and another one tomorrow.

first storm came from the midwest and was light fluffy snow. second one they say is gonna be a little warmer and packed with more moisture which means heavy snow, freezing rain and ice.

I've got about 4" of sleet and 2" of snow. About 8 hours of snowpocalipse to go.

it's piling up here too.. about 10" on the ground and 12+ more hours of snow coming. There is a drift up against my garage door that's growing fast.

I have to get up at 4AM for work and shovel my way out of the driveway, the city never plows my street so we'll see how my Avalanche does in the estimated 18" overall accumulation + drifts.

Awesome sauce! We did have a tornado watch and a severe thunderstorm warning for a while. As usual, the I-10 corridor got most of the action, down here on the water we just had some small storms and a touch of lightning+thunder. My prayers go out to those who have found themselves trapped by forces beyond their control. Stay warm, bro's!
