My perspective of this is probably a little different than most here. I have a small business and am quite aware of all the different taxes that are imposed upon all taxpayers. I think alot of people would have a little different attitude about taxes if they got all of the money that was paid on their behalf and had to then pay it themselves.

The government and its programs have grown out of hand. It was established only to govern and defend, not to redistribute wealth or create jobs.

1: No.. All should pay the same percentage... but there should be no deductions and no one should get back more than they pay in. The earned incone credit is a form of welfare/redistribution of wealth.

Edit: I do think there should be a per person exemption of maybe $8000 (example.. a family of four making $38,000 would pay %20 of $6,000 or $1200 whereas a family of four making $250,000 would pay %20 of $218,000 or $43,600), also NO income would be exempt including stocks, bonds, interest, etc and no deductions - ZERO. That would be fair to everyone, but more so to the ones who pay a small amount as they have the same access to highways, public schools, mititary protection and other publicly funded government services.

                2: No

                3: Harder

                4: Same

5: Same percentage across the board

6: No.. Too subjective not fair. Edit: They have already done that to the tobacco and liquor industries (sin taxes) and there is now some growing support for taxes on junk / unhealthy foods. It's not done in our best interest but to cycle more cash through the government. The more they can cycle, the more power that they have to maintain their power. Even though the rebublicans talk a good game, both parties participate in this.

7: No.. the rich will always make money because they have drive, motivation and the working knowledge of making money. And any extra taxes imposed on the rich/industry eventually get passed down to the consumer via higher prices. (cigarettes, housing rent, gas etc.)

8: In some cases, Yes. Federal, State, Local and property taxes as well as regulatory compliance costs do make some companies uncompetetive.

9: LMAO... Hell NO.. Both political parties are a joke and are spending like theres no tomorrow. Bush needs to line item veto the shit out of the next budget. Pork is killing our budget, only to help senators/congressmen keep their offices.

                10: NO

I keep hoping for a good third party candidate to come along. Hope it's not too late when they do.

                Marc

One last note... I'm not a wealthy person by any means, and like alot people, have minimal savings. I do not have a retirement plan and do not have health insurance. It is cheaper to pay for doctors and meds than it is to pay $6000 a year for insurance. Insurance rates keep sky rocketing due to lawsuits and rising healthcare costs. But even with my situation, there is no way that I would support a nationalized healthcare plan. It would just be more money for them to control.

Sorry about the rant, but taxes and the government are a big issue for me.

                    1. Yes. if you take quality of life and average cost of living into consideration. Its pure greed that make people say otherwise.

                    2. Only indirectly. I am paying them (and in the endy myself) for a service.

                    6. That wouldn't be fair now would it?

                    7. Hahaha. Thats almost funny.

                    8. Yes, but there is always a way around it and us cheap money grubbing Americans go and buy the cheap imported stuff then turn right around and complain about job outsourcing to overseas.

                    9. No. With size comes corruption.

                    10. If its failing it is failing for a reason, dumping money into it usually only delays the inevitable. We are brought up starting in grade school where competition is discouraged and everything is forced to be fair. That is not how the world works, all we get from that is a bunch of screwed up high school graduates that mentally have not grown up (more so in metropolitan schools). At least in the rural life you are shoved into reality at a much younger age. The baby-boomer generation really screwed up their children.

                      1. Yes. One guy has 5 bucks the other has 10 bucks. Who can pay more?

                      2. No. Belongs to the people WHO elect the gov to tax and spend.

                      3. same

                      4. same

                      5. trick question. Some wealthy folks through loop holes already pay less tax than middle class folks. Sooo if these people get even more tax cuts, then i will say probably no.

                      6. No. Would be easy to say yes though.

                      7. No such thing as too rich. We live in a free market, sky is the limit on HOW much you earn.

                      8. Dont fucking understand the Q.

                      9. No. No. No........

                      10. Yes. They bailed Chrysler out and it seemed to work. Could only hope GM would get the same.? Hell we dont have to worry now cause Reagan set the tone by bailing the savings and loan people out. That was fucked up.

"kanchou" Give the story up now. You gotta be taking a poll for the republicans now dont ya?

I'm just curious where people's opinions lie.

What makes you think I'm taking a poll for the republicans?

Not only that, what good would such a poll be

                              i realised an english error on #8. . .

                              It should read:

8: Do you think taxes SHOULD BE IN PLACE TO prevent overseas competition from beating local companies?
