  • Today is a good day!

I'm getting a bad tooth fixed (no more tooth pain) and my hone tool, pistons, rings, crank scraper, rod bearings and A/C pulley delete arrived early this morning.

Crank Scraper and Rod Bearings compliments of WOT-TECH. They shipped faster then I expected and the crank scraper looks great. Thanks Ben!

Sooo, I will be working hard on this motor today. Cross hatching, checking ring gaps, flushing w/ kerosene, ect. I was able to degrease the crank interior yesterday.

Surprisingly to me there was NO metal in the oil pan. Piston 6 had two cracks on the camshaft side. When the piston impacted the valve seat it crushed all rings into place and worn then down hard. But the cylinder is still perfectly round and score free. I guess I lucked out there, else I would be putting in a rebuilt 3400 block.

Hopefully by Saturday I'll have her on the road again.

I learned the stock pistons in the 3100 are hypereutectic already. So does this mean the ring gaps provided by GM are for hypers or should I search the proper ring gap from other sources to make sure the rings don't butt hard and rip the top ring land off.

Always use the gap recommended by the ring manufacturer, of course if they are "factory" rings, then use the factory spec's.

If you ain't rock and roll, you must be driving a Honda
