I think a change in foreign policy is being called for; has been called for, some time now. I saw a few years ago, just before Obama took office, him proclaiming how he was going to bring the troops home. He was so righteously calling for the return of our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Then about a week before he took office he announces that more troops would be needed for a little while. Years then pass and they are still there. Now he talks again of bringing them home. Something smells fishy there. There is information not being shared to the American people that needs to be shared. It’s obvious something changed his mind and/or committed him to keep us out there. What is it? I fear that the only reason to keep us out there revolves around greed. I have some past words that I’d like to read to you all, “**The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know.” Those are the words of John F. Kennedy. He goes on to point out that it is also the responsibility of the press and government to work together in what is revealed to the public during times of war. The current pathetic state of media will be discussed later. I personally see no reason for the US to be on foreign soil, outside of it being controlled by money. The 3rd world nations we are “assisting” or occupying have little to no effect on the future of America as a whole. They have their own problems and they are problems we do not need to be sharing. Our own people don’t want us there, our troops don’t want to be there, the opposition in those countries REALLY don’t want us there, and only a few of the civilian population actually want us there either. We have entertained the ideas of several other nations, friend, foe, and neutral. We have heard their views. They have made us to be the whipping boy of the world. There is a problem, send American boys to die. They have an internal problem, send American boys to die. I’m sick of it, let them screw up their own nations; let them fail on their own, Let them die for their soil. We already died for ours.
Let me set a small analogy. If you went to work and only did half the job, you’d be fired. It’s not that we are not capable of smashing the opposition. We are not “allowed” too. US forces are the most powerful forces in the world. We have histories of being able to turn out more ships, guns, ammo, soldiers, and planes than any other nation. Currently, not even the rifles our soldiers carry into battle are made on our soil. That needs to change too. If we are going to go over and fight, then fight! Get the job done and get out! If getting the job done means major destruction, do it. You don’t want major destruction? Then don’t take the job. Simple.
Combining my idea of foreign policy revolves around securing us as a nation, rebuilding our industrial might, you know that ability that made the American dollar worth something and our products sought for by the world. The thing detrimental to keeping jobs here and feeding our OWN people! That’s another segment I’ll get on later.
So here’s the plan. Close our doors. It would be a simple speech so the media should be able to get this right and it won’t cost them too much to air. My address to the world if I was the president:
“Greetings to all… Tonight I am going to shake things up. Effective immediately all US bases, personnel, equipment, where feasible, planes, ships, etc, will be called home. We will only act in immediate and direct threats to our soil within range to our borders. All foreign aid, featuring intelligence, money, education, troops, defense, medical aid, food aid, and any way shape or form of aid from us not mentioned will hereby cease immediately. All products assembled, produced, processed, or major interests of that are owned and/or operated by companies on foreign soil are now effectively banned from shipping or selling within the borders of the US. Outside of diplomatic status, temporarily, all visas for travel to the US are revoked, go home, sorry, hope you enjoyed your stay. Nations of earth, you are now 100% on your own, do with it what you will. I now issue a formal apology to any and all of you for any past offenses that the US may have caused directly or indirectly. From here on out we will not interfere. In closing, I leave our international position.
We will stay away quietly in our own yard, playing within our own borders. If harm comes to one single American we will act severely. For every one American harmed we will raze one city from the responsible party. Responsibility falls to where ever or whatever nation supports or fails to keep their populace in line. If a ship, a plane, building, or terrorist act affects us we will remove the responsible nation as a whole. Leave us be, we leave you be. Mess with us; we will remove you with a vengeance. Good luck and have a pleasant day.”
A lot of people will take that as if I am a war loving mongrel. I’m not. I would prefer, whole-heartedly for us to not be involved in any conflict. But, I realize that there are enough arrogant, immature, attention thriving, stupid individuals out there to not allow that. At one time, if there was a problem that called for US troops, our mere presence alone was enough to put down the opposition and allow a peaceful proposition to come forth. Today, that’s not possible. We come running to the world’s beck and call. Dropping everything we are doing wouldn’t be a problem if we were strong minded enough to pursue the interest in question, but we are more influenced by what other nations tell us to do. We, the United States of America, the most powerful nation in the world, are told what to do by 2nd and 3rd world countries. Doesn’t that strike anyone as wrong?
Let me give a good example. We all know the date December 7th 1941 and the horrible attack on Pearl Harbor. It was bad because we tried to stay out of the war. We had Japanese diplomats telling us the day before that Japan was not interested in going to war with us and they attacked anyway. Not many people know the amount of damage and lives lost in that action, I will tell those to you now. A total of 12 ships were sunk, 4 battleships, 3 cruisers, 3 destroyers, 1 training vessel, and 1 mine layer. In addition 188 US aircraft destroyed, 2402 people killed, and 1282 wounded. It was such a stab in the back we went to war over it. We put everything we had into defending our nation at a time that flying over 400 miles, non-stop, was a big deal. Few people know about the minor first attack we made 9 months later directly onto Japanese soil, The Doolittle Raid. It was a pin prick compared to their attack on our territory of Hawaii at the time.
On September 7th, 2001, terrorists attacked the United States by hijacking civilian commercial liners and flying them into the World’s trade center in New York. We all remember that. Ever look at the numbers on the deaths involved? 2977 people died. Among them were foreign nationals. 2977 CIVILIANS! Not military personnel. Not people who signed on to a job in the military that may cost them their lives. Regular civilians! There was day care in that building! They endangered children that thankfully none of them were hurt. But they could have been.
My point being today we can fly military aircraft around the world and strike targets anywhere in the world within 24 hours. The US Marine Corps prides itself in being capable of being anywhere in the world within 24 hours. Why did we have to wait so long to strike anywhere? The most powerful and technologically advanced military in the world and we had to wait almost a year to act against an over grown street gang. We should have struck fast; we should have struck hard, with our full military might. We should have set an example to the world about what happens when you attack innocent US civilians. Instead we talked. Diplomacy has a time and place for nations willing to compromise with one another. A terrorist group is NOT a nation. You do NOT compromise with them.
What we should have done….and I’ll use Syria just as an example, Lets say that the terrorists came from Syria. The following actions would have happened within 24 hours of 9/11. We know they came from cells based out of Syria. The US president makes a call to the Syrian puppet--- I mean leader, it should have gone like this, “greetings, pres here, we have evidence that a terrorist cell based out of your country is responsible for the attack on our soil. You have 24 hours to wipe out the terrorist group. If you need assistance in this, we will assist in full. If you are not capable of taking care of this problem, we will do it for you within 48 hrs. Any action to prevent us from completing this task will result in us taking action against you. Please know that we have no reason to wish ill to the general populace of Syria we just wish for you to take the responsibility for not policing your own. You’ll be hearing from me in the next few days to find your results.” That gave them a clear choice to take care of the problem they let develop.
Anyway, a few days go by and Syria reports that they no longer have these terrorists’ organizations within their borders. They may even report they have captured a few of them, killed a few more, and the rest fled to Iraq. I used Iraq as an example only. Cool, problem taken care of, contact Iraq and tell them same thing as Syria, problem gets handled eventually by the people that allowed the groups to form there and or, we then step in. Let’s say Iraq can’t handle it. The US then steps in and organizes a Turkish hunt. We literally create a giant circle of troops completely around the whole country. We could even do it in sections; I’m not going to get too detailed here. We encircle a section, and then the troops all march to center. The circle gets tighter; there is no way to run out, anything that attempts to leave gets destroyed. As you process the entire population you WILL get the people responsible.
2nd method, Iraq declares it will not allow us to act within its borders and will not go after the responsible parties. Take out Iraq. The uses of very neat conventional weapons, that are more than capable to obliterate the whole country, without fallout, are available. It’s not much of a country anyway, it wasn’t hard for us to take them out the last 2 times, and all the other countries over there would be easier still. You start smashing an area, the people will act. They will flush out the terrorists. They will force their government to act. And if they don’t, they are just as guilty.
All of this follows the KISS method. This is that simple. If it starts being more complicated; then you’re doing something wrong! Countries can be dealt with and diplomatic relations held. Countries ran by terrorists and fanatics are not countries, they are cancers on the world that need to be removed. If that cancer stays to itself, fine, no problem, to each their own. But, when that cancer lashes out and attacks my families, you don’t go in a talk to it. You rip it out and stomp it to death.
There are too many people, here at home in the states, that wake up every morning, smell their roses, look out the window at the rainbows, and think that their safe little world, ideals, way of life, and morals are the same around the world. The news reports of bombings, murders, etc are all fiction. They think you should be able to talk out their problems. With normal people I agree, you should be able to talk out problems. But these are NOT rational people. You get the same response from them as you do a rabid dog. How many times are we going to allow ourselves to be bit by this rabid dog before we put the poor miserable creature down?!
This is not the first time we’ve been bit either, we’ve been getting bit by them since 1800. The Barbary wars. We were dumb enough and broke enough then that we tried to negotiate and pay tribute. Their response then is the same response 300 years later! “…that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every muslim who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise.” We paid them tribute till we could tell them we were capable of defending ourselves. We attacked them in return for all the attacks they had made on us, taking our sailors and making them slaves, even then somehow we managed to bow down and tried for a peaceful agreement. How many more Americans will be taken hostage, terrorized, enslaved, tortured, and/or killed for their enjoyment!? This is like paying tribute and being bullied by a 4 year old down the street. It should have been ended centuries ago. How much longer will we let go on? Do we have to wait for them to light off a nuke in Times Square during a new year’s party? Only way to prevent this disease is to kill it off.
2nd part of my international plan…
By closing our borders and eliminating foreign products from the market place we effectively remove our trade deficit. Too many products are being made overseas, too many jobs are outsources overseas, too many products are brought into us and not enough shipped out. When the world wanted a quality product they bought American. That’s why we grew so well in the 1950’s. Today, we ship out all our technology, jobs, money, and then wonder why we are no longer the economic power that we should be. Bring the jobs home. We as Americans demand the best, we also spend more as individuals then most small nations. We cut ourselves off from the world, temporarily; the world will beg us to buy from them. Our own people will have jobs, products will be American made and of high quality again, our unemployment rate will crash, education will skyrocket, industries long dead will return, the list is so long. I wonder again why such a simple solution is not implemented? Oh ya that’s right, too many politicians are owned by big business. Ever wonder why we are still using gasoline when we have the technology to have every vehicle and plane in America run on clean burning bio-diesel, bio-gasoline, bio-alcohol, bio-jet fuel all made from algae? Because too many of the people currently in power have their hands in the pockets of oil men.
We have a revolution every 4 years. What needs to change is stop letting the media pick your leaders. Stop letting the money pick your leaders. As Americans we can change anything in our government that isn’t right. When are we going to push for that change? Is it right that only millionaires or greater run for office and win it? No. It’s not like most of them made that money from scratch and they earned it, they were born into it and that money gave them power to influence. So we continue to let the secret “upper-class” continue to rule us, making themselves richer and the general population more poor till they can classify laws and regulations to make us all equally poor and them above the law. If we don’t act, if we don’t break the chain, the stories of a socialist America living under martial law, “for our own good,” will happen and we’ll be too far along to fix it.
I think a change in foreign policy is being called for; has been called for, some time now. I saw a few years ago, just before Obama took office, him proclaiming how he was going to bring the troops home. He was so righteously calling for the return of our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
