  • This guy is lucky to be alive

Happened yesterday morning. A dumbass in a Firebird was doing 100 passing traffic on the left shoulder when he lost control. Just happened that a cop with the dash cam on was one of the cars he was passing.

The single car crash on Interstate 675 that shut down the southbound lanes in Sugarcreek Township was caught on the cruiser cam of a Sugarcreek Township poli...

Wow, I don't think he was speeding on purpose. I bet he had a seizure or something.

What are the odds of the Cop being there at the precise time? The video is as perfect as any Hollywood movie. Happened 6 miles from my house.

Thanks a lot for those links CNC, I saw that this morning on my 42" flat screen and I still couldn't make out what kind of car it was from the clip showed he was going so fast. In the first link that support beam appeared to have moved, I wonder what kind of inspection was performed to insure it's still safe.

That cop should be thanking God because it looks like rear ending him was the other option.

"To see what role if any speed played in the accident" I wonder what that News woman was thinking when she said that.

After looking at it again, he never hit the brakes, maybe he fell asleep.

Yep, we got this thread going on over at driven2modify and I bet practically every other car forum has it up for discussion as well. If you look very closely you can see him eject and go hair, teeth over eyeballs across the road nearly getting run over by the guy escaping to the right shoulder. I'm thinking he went for the left shoulder pass but the tires got off the pavement and it was all over with at that point. "One more radar lover gone" . . .

I'll have to watch again to see him being ejected. What I noticed was the brake lights coming on --- after he was already airborne...

EDIT : Watched it again, and I've not positive that is him. That part seems to remain too straight while skidding across multiple lanes of traffic to be a person.

I saw a couple of voices of reason, but even they devolved into a personal analysis of the perpetrator. Thank God we don't have maroons like that here.

i expected more responses though, considering how active of a forum it is.

I used to go to TG.O but haven't been in a while and can't remember my login name or password... DOH!

That kid in the video is very lucky to still be alive. My guess is the only thing that saved him is being thrown out and not taking all the impact that the car took. He was listed in critical condition the last time I looked though. The kid was from Mason so he MAY have been trying to get home or to work after being detained, who knows.

I've seen a few others in incredible MVA's live and occasionally one dies in a fender bender. I know there's a reason but it's sometimes hard to tell why.

From what I could discern in the video using a bit of pause button wizardry, when he hit the ground he "logrolled" and his arms stayed close in therefore dissipating his momentum in a survival friendly fashion. Personally, I would be amazed if he has any direct memory of the event from impact to the point where he stopped on the right shoulder.
