  • ¿?Will it haul?¿

So; tomorrow I am set out to buy a 1995 3.4L camaro as a donor for my blazers 3.4/3500 build...
But my only tow vehicle is my 5speed 89 2.8L blazer!
Its only mod is a 350 TB, and its pretty fresh since its last tune up, so its running pretty decent.

But the question is: will it haul?
It will be pulled on a piggyback-style trailer if it makes a difference.

It will be pulled through I-5 north from yoncalla oregon, to springfield oregon. Not even 50 miles.
I have never hauled more than 750LBS with that blazer, so im a little scared here.

    What do ya guys think?
    Any tips?

Give yourself room to stop, and if by piggyback you mean tow dolly, stop after about a mile or two and recheck your straps. Mine like to loosen up a little at first.

Just modulate the clutch, don't slip it so you don't burn it up moving from a stop. As long as you don't have too tall a tire on it, it should move it just fine otherwise.

Hahaha, just got back with the car!
A couple incidents happened on the way back; First, we couldnt lead the car because the steering wasnt unlocking. After we freed it up and loaded it, on the way out of the dudes driveway SNAP goes one of the ratchet straps, little to my knowledge. My bud and I didnt notice until we were halfway home. After we got it fixed, we realized that it snapped because the dolly was a pivoting type and we strapped it to the non-pivoting part of the traler.
As soon as I let off the throttle to fix the straps BANG goes the right side trailer tire while we are doing 70MPH!

CRAP, my cross wrench is gone! Harbor freight wrench and socket to the rescue!
I brought two spare tires just in case, so I was pretty relieved at that.

Smooth(er) sailing from there until we get to the shop and I realize that I forgot the keys!
I had to drive 30 minutes and back to my house to get the keys, but all in all, the car is in our shop and im glad.

The blazer actually didnt do half bad either, considering the camaro weighs more than it.
Pulling a steady 70 in 5th on the straightaways and 65 in 4th thru the hills.

It was my brakes and the poor poor clutch that took a beating...

Glad you made it without a serious incident. I once pulled a full sized Chevy P/U on a 15' wooden flatbed trailer with my old 4.3l Astro van. That was a little scary! When I hit the brakes it would lift the van and push it an extra 10 feet or so.

That's why I only did it ONCE!
