    It happens to everyone, today it got me.

    I sat in the parking lot of the Dollar General store, while my wife shopped. RATT was cranked! I felt good! Time to leave, started her up, noticed a slight miss. No big deal. 4 blocks from home, at a stoplight it happened. Anyone remember the Camry smoke video? That was me when I left the stoplight. Only it came out of the exhaust. No one but me could see to move but me. Got her back and let her calm down a bit. Refired, shot about a gallon of anti-freeze out the back.

    I'll take pics of the teardown, but I know what I will find. (no oil and water mixed) Headset! Guess I won't watch the race tomorrow! Yes, I'll get the heads done while they are off. When your are driving a Chevy, at least today, everything behind me was a blur.

      Sux to be me today. $65 tow bill. I'm glad my girlfriends Blazer still runs, lights and all, otherwise I would be bicycling to work. 3 Day minimum. Sold the Honda, 20-20 hindsight. While I'm in there.....any thoughts? Timing chain replace is a gimme. Probably should have named this thread "Spitting Up Blood".

        You know, you could slip in some fresh rod bearings and an oil pump with pickup while the pan is down for the chain party.

                  2 things: #1: NEVER BUY A #>$ CAMARO! #2: NEVER WORK ON A #>$ CAMARO! See pics.

                  I'm in it. Back is better, got the damn plenum and intake off. My arms told me get the motor out of this bitch! So,...that is what I will do. I can see no safe way to tear down and fix other than that. Now comes questions. Can I pull the engine without removing the AC condenser? Can I replace the engine in a complete state? Intake and plenum installed. Haynes says no, but, there are always tricks. PLEASE tell me there is a trick! BTW, before you ask, it has to come out the top. No lift.



                  #2 pic shows some idiots idea of a cruel joke. Taking off the EGR. WTF? Killing all engineers........

                  Maybe time to think about camshafts. $600 worth of tires, $500 worth of exhaust, and the engine craps out! So it goes....now you understand that stupid cat walking around mumbling to itself.
                  Move this thread to Pushrod...whatever..... Maintenance? Performance? General? Or push off cliff and walk away?

                    Congrat's, you just found the number exhaust leak on these birds. As for pic #1, I feel your pain. This is my existence. Right now I'm in the middle of a heater plenum changeout on a Town Car. Now I know where they got the idea from for plastic razor blades. . . . . . LOL

                      Not funny. Yeah it is. There is no way to put it back in assembled. Figured it out. This sux on so many levels. Intake, plenum......cowl. I wanna chew my foot off. How to make a hard job easy. Don't get a #<$ Camaro. Just don't do it. Every bolt is a PITA! Pain In The Arm!

                        my arms and hands looked like that most of the time i owned the Z26. don't miss that crap. there wasn't a week where i didn't have busted knuckles or scrapes all over my arms.

                        those 4th gen camaro's looks like a bitch to do any engine work on. it must be like owning a mini-van, half of the engine stuck under the cowl.

                          3 transfusions, many expletives, thrown wrenches, and a case of beer later. Thar She Blows! Of course it was the hardest head to get off, not that I would have done 1 anyway.

                          Now, out with the die grinder, sander and duct tape. It will go back together without bloodshed. No new cam, just water pump, chain set....

                            Maybe, any thoughts? Lifters look real good...156 bux.....

                            800-4800RPM; advertise duration 252 int./exh.; valve lift .425 int./exh.; lobe angle 110 degrees

                              No new cam, unavailable due to OBD I, but it is back together. Runs better than it ever did. Timing chain was worn. So, I'm cool till next time.........I did find a neato paint scheme. Painted with flat black BBQ grill paint, then coated with many coats of Red Anodized Dupli-Color High Temp. It came out this deep Black Cherry Gloss wth sparkley things. Seeable only in good sunlight. I'll get a pic later. I need a beer or 6.

                              Props to Mandie Willis for the paint idea.
