Anyone familiar with FWD Cadillacs of the late 80s/early 90s?

My brother has a 1990 Deville that we just swapped the nearly dead 4.5 for a 4.9. Since they're both the PFI version everything went pretty smoothly. I'm a little concerned about the stock transmission though. It's essentially a 440-T4 beefed up to handle the extra V8 grunt. But the 4.9 has an additional 20 hp and 30 ft-lbs over the 4.5. I think the stock unit might be on borrowed time, so I've been looking into getting a replacement.

My research indicates that the Allante, up until it went to the Northstar in 1993, used an even stronger 440-T4 GM internally dubbed "F7", because the modified 4.5 it used essentially made the same power as a 4.9 (200 hp, 270 ft-lbs), and the Allante was expected to be abused a bit more. So I was thinking that an Allante trans is the answer.

My question is, would the Allante unit be a direct swap into the Deville? I think it would, since it should use the same bellhousing and mounts, and it's a non-electronic unit like the stock Deville trans. Do they have the same plug/harness for the lockup solenoid? I can't find any pictures of either transmission.
