  • Still alive.... just busy

Hey all I'm still around, just busy.

Bought a house, still in the process of moving in. Got to get everything in and my street rod moved over and settled in before I can start work on it. Good news though is I will have room to work on it. Bad news is I won't have much money to throw at it since there is a lot of things I've had to get for the house. I need to get a shop vac and a good air compressor.

Can anyone recommend a good compressor brand to get? 220V is no problem, I can run that and hook that up in no time flat. I'm not looking to break the bank, but don't want something that is oil-less and will break... Doesn't need to be a beast, but a 60gal tank is probably nice for air impact work etc over a 30 gal...

I need to get shop lights installed before I tear into the car though, as I won't be able to move the car to install the lights then...

Realistically I doubt I'll have the car done this summer. I'd love to drive it some but it will be only for a bit getting the ODBI swap in and then I will be tearing it apart to put the built motor in. I will take my time and get everything done right on the car and not stress out rushing it. I have to figure out the VSS issue in the '93 282. I don't think it's the gauge cluster as there is no cruise control either, and the VSS is new. MPH reads about 10mph at 70mph....

Anyway, I'll be more active once things are all setup and I have internet at the new house and I'm into the swing of things.

scan the 282 car and GUARANTEE that the PCM is seeing 10MPH at 70 as well...

    otherwise, welcome back... kinda.

Robert, yeah I have that feeling too since the cruise doesn't work. I really don't want that to be it though because the 92-93 282 getrag in the beretta's is a RARE animal. No other 92-93 getrag will work because the others don't have the bosses in the case for the beretta 92-93 style mounts. And the VSS was replaced by the original owner without improvement. Actually from what I read in the thread he said something like it was bad, and he replaced it and it never read right. So that means 1) it was working then quit, or 2) it never worked and he replaced it. Either way the tone ring sounds fubar in the trans. I guess I could always swap the PCM and adjust the road speed constant... LOL but it should be reading perfect with the obd1.5 PCM as is so something is up.

John Thanks. yeah I haven't unboxed them even. God that was a while back too. I'm not fully moved in, and it's starting to tick me off. Hopefully I can get some stuff moved this weekend and get in there!!

tuning to fix a mechanical issue: not the greatest method, but easily the funest.

i'm thinking the VSS isn't within a close enough tolerance to pick up a decent signal on the ring... and it's only picking up on a few per revolution.
