Aaron you should be able to figure this out. Why would I need 3" of clearance?

BAH.. you dont need to raise the car to do headers under the pan..

A winner! (Give the man a cigar) The reason I need it up a little though is not my driving, but the f....d up roads around here. Hell, it almost bottoms out now on my way to work and I'd hate to crush a good set of steel and anything above it. Plus I would never be able to park in my driveway.

Ok, let me get this straight, you have a W-body with a rear monoleaf suspension. You replaced the rear struts (shock absorbers), and it raised the car? Shock absorbers only dampen the oscillation of the springs, they have nothing to do with ride height. Unless your old struts we so fucked, they were seized in the down position. Then your suspension would have been "held" down by the struts. Therfore any old brand of struts would have had the same effect.

Ya Jackass. Don't talk to me like I don't know what I am talking about. I believe it was you in another thread that posted about camshaft bearings in the DOHC... try again. Yes, the new struts raised the rear about 1.5-2" Do I need to dig up the damn pictures? The old FE3 struts were beyond shot. When I removed them they bottomed with the touch of my finger and stayed bottomed. The KYB are GAS struts, not oil like the FE3 stuff. The KYBs therefore apply upward pressure at all times. Hence, the ride height increased. So ya, get it straight.

Just jacked the car up the 3" I was talkin' about. Looks like shit. So much for this thread. I would like to know the ride height and where to measure it from though.

I hope Colin was being sarcastic, becuz there is not nearly enough room to go under the frame with a 3" pipe. Not even close. That is why i went through it.

Franz has been running headers under his engine for over a year now. Aaron, how come you always try to compare your car to other body styles you know nothing about?

With the coilovers can I lose the monoleaf? Probably a better ride too. A little stiffer. HehHeh....I said "stiff" I can do maybe 1.5" without makin' the car look stupid.

Yeah, dump that shitty mono leaf. The ride would be improved greatly. I think you would notice a great deal less body roll in the rear with the coilovers in. As far as stiffness goes, you get to chose that with the Held coilovers. He lets you pick a spring rate that you want. Combined with KYB GR2's you'll have a sweet suspension. As far as ride height goes, the higher you go the more body roll you are going to have and the lower you go the less, so what ever suits you.
