  • Ohm Read out on fuel level

I know some of you guys seem to be able to pull this kind of info out of who knows where, so i thought i would ask here even though its ford.

I got a 1990 f150, 5.0l, i'm trying to figure out the Ohm output for empty and full for it. i'm wanting to put in a fuel cell so i can scrap the shitty 2 steel tanks in favor of one single on in the rear. If anyone can point me in the right direction aside a ford forum, i would appriciate it.

kind of a shot in the dark, but

seems like there are two common setups for fords...

this brings up i guess a lower reading, i searched and got the 33-240 for the fox body's. Incase anyone else tunes into this, i have to get a fuel pump, and it seems the 5.0L runs on 33-35 PSI, So for getting a pump, do i go by PSI or GPH? and if its PSI, do i get a higher or lower PSI pump, i know that the PSI can be turned up with the FPR, but i dont know if it can be turned down... Thanks Guys!

pumps don't create psi/pressure, restrictions do. it is ALL controlled by your FPR.

best course of action would be to look for a pump that supports the required FLOW and the pressure you plan on running.

The FPR bleeds off the excess pressure to lower it to the pressure that the rail is supposed to have for a given vacuum level... if the FPR is working right. That's why you have a return line (the smaller of the two). The bleed off fuel returns to the tank through that line.

Plus one on what Robert said on flow and pressure.

well i just need the fuel to be at stock specs. I cant use my original fuel lines or pump because of the fuel cell. So i guess i have to figure out what Specs the stock is at in LPM or GPH. Thanks Guys

            Bob

EDIT:i can find the right GPH but not with the neer required PSI. the PSI that i get is 3-7, and i need 33-35.

If you look up your fuel pump on Autozone.com it should show a pressure and flow rating.
If it doesn't,than call your local autozone and it will pull up with the description.
I looked it up on the Ford dealerbase but it is too old and not in the system.
If it is EFI as it should be originally than the stock pump should be a minimum of 35psi.

You can also go with a higher flow and pressure rating since the FPR will keep things in check at the rail. I would buy big enough, but not an overkill.

                  cool: 95 MC 3100

                  Gallons Per Hour: 40
                  Pressure Rating: 65-95 psi

from the factory, the FPR brings it to 43.5PSI, but apparently this pump is good for 40GPH at 65PSI, and that's being conservative... unless they're listing the free-flow GPH rating...
