Well, I am new to the forum and please forgive me if I ask stupid questions, sadly I was not chosen to be a gearhead. Well, I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS with a fine working engine and a messed up transmission, then I have a 2003 Malibu with a messed up engine and fine working transmission . So I was wondering if it would be possible to use the 3.8 engine with the 3.1 transmission? I am thinking no since the 3.8 produced 230 ft·lbf of torque and the 4T40 was designed for 1.5–3.1 L engines producing up to 190 ft·lbf of torque.
