  • All materials for custom Turbo are now ordered

Yup, just got to wait for all the various packages to arrive

I included everything I coould possibly think of.

Even the bolts/nuts designed for high heat, vacuum check valves, gaskets, tranny fluids, oil and crank case flushing, hoses, -AN adapters, gauges, wires, steel bar for welding mounts, tap to thread 1/2" NPT and 1/8" NPT.

Engine paint, vacuum hose kit, a bag of assorted vacuum conncector pieces (3-way, 5-way, 1-way, tapers, ect), exhaust wrap, welder with flux core wire, helmet....

Turbo, intercooler, PCM, HP Tuner PRO, wideband O2, new NB o2, weld up exhaust kit, flanges and gaskets, 3 springs for the wastegate so i can work around 4-5-6-8-9-10 psi boost, a boost controller to ease the stress on the WG.

B&M Tranny cooler AND oil cooler............plus much more I failed to note.

Man, I am soo excited. The stuff is on its way, the stuff is on its way...................YEEE-HAAAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what wastegate and controller did you end up using?

    EDIT: and BOV?
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!
    Latest nAst1 files here!
Need a wiring diagram for any GM car or truck from 82-06(and 07-08 cars)? PM me!

From the same company where I got teh china-charger, Speed Racer Performance.

Using the boost controller greatly relaxes stress on the wastegate. So it can be a cheaper model, for now.

If anything fails, I have gauges to show before damaging stuff. And I'll replace with better or upgrade it myself.

Yes, BOV. It is an SSQV BOV adjustable.

I will have a very good tune and the intake/exhaust is going to be well built. The oil and tranny will have top of the line fluids. Before the trubo is installed, I am flushing the crankcase out real good and then putting in a quality filter.

Along with a B&M Cooler for both trans and motor oil.

      36 lb/hr injectors.

Most parts are quality parts except for the turbo, WG and boost controller (mechanical)

Absolutely. I would be honored to post my progress, achievements and all the glory.

I may even mark notes so I can assemble a 'How I did it" with the budget I had. I think if people could see real figures, down to the bolts and hoses cost, they may feel confident enough financially to pull it off.

And the best for last...a few videos of good quality of the 0-90 mph runs and other runs like 30-60, ect. A walk around video, detailed video of the engine bay so one could see all the work I put in.

My laptop has a good sound card in it. I also have a professional microphone which picks up sound beautifully and has no wind static noises. I play a lot of guitar/piano so I have good sound equipment.

My videos will sound crisp and clear with no music over dubs. Just raw sounds of power and the fire in acceleration WOT. CLear audibility of the turbo spooling up with that jet engine whine and an SSQV BOV for the nice sounding BOV.

But the BOV may have to be routed back into the intake due to the MAF and PVC interfacing mechanically. So then the BOV will be barely noticable if at all.

I have two Flowmaster 40's. They are very loud mufflers (ironic). The note of the exhaust changes depending where the muffler is welded into the exhaust system. I might weld one in near the downpipe and the other near the tail pipe. To phase the sound a bit. And all 2.5" pipe will help deepen the chug of the exhaust note.

I wonder if any has used the fake turbo sound maker with a real turbo installed? Could be interesting cross sounds.

And I want to install a deep note horn as well.

I'm into power, obviously, but I am really into the sound of the engine running. I could spend some time and monet just to get that perfect bad-ass sound.

i think i know what you're refering to there: ghey!

and remember what corky says: "if the turbo could talk it would state no muffler" or something like that. the turbo itself will absorb a lot of sound, so you may be able to get away with glasspacks or nothing at all depending on the cat situation...

True, though, I am expected to make a lot of HP and torque running 8 psi boost. I read I could probably go 10 psi on stock internals if the tune was good. But 8 psi will be fine. However, that is pushing the boundries of the transmission. So reducing a little power to enhance the bas-ass sound while easing up on the tranny could be seens as a good thing.

But I fully understand the no muffler concept on turbos.

Though, I feel the Flowmaster 40"s line up in a series would really enhance the low end sound. Since the 1st one would tone up the exhaust note, the second one would take that effect even further. Kind of like a SUPER Flowmaster 40 +++

The intercooler is being placed just behind the front fender where there is a mouth like opening. There are plastic vanes that guide the air upward. I am going to rig those vains to seal on the top and bottom of the intercooler. Also going to seal of the sides so the ram air flow will have no where to go but through the intercooler. I hope this will increase the cooling efficiency, especially the faster I am traveling.

I also bought some really nice/expensive performance racing transmission fluid. Amsoil High Torque drive synthetic ATF. $82 for 8 qts. But that combined wuith a B&M Trans Cooler rated at 14.4k, the transmission will have a good long life ahead of it.

When I took the top end apart, all the coolant passages were cleaned well. The heads and valvetrain system were thoroughly cleaned. The pistons were cleaned. The crankcase is getting flushed twice. The final oil will be Castrol Full synthetic.

New timing chain and sproket, new camshaft sensor, new crankshaft sensor, new NB O2. All new gaskets designed to not fail like GM stock crap.

I have enough braided steel line to run the trans cooler and the oil cooler to the front of the vehicle. Near the intercooler but not infront of or behind. I may use the fog lights as an air ram for the trans and oil coolers, one for each.

Shes gonna pure nice and roar/rage down the highway.

Ahhh, I love upgrading cars. Especially when they are my own...hehehe HAA!
