  • GM's Latest Marketing Tactic

    General Motors is offering incentives of $1,000 and low financing rates specifically for Toyota customers worried about their recalled vehicles, beginning Wednesday.

    That is just awesome!

              Toyota got in a small final laugh though as this just spilled over onto the Matrix. Which means the Pontiac Vibe is now on halted production/sale. Considering Pontiac is well on it's way out already I doubt it'll change much.

                  Yeah, GM would just deny the problem until lawsuits forced them to do something about it. LIMG anyone?

                  There has only been a handfull of vehicles that have had this gas pedal problem, and they are doing the right thing by recalling them all to be safe.

                        i think that's kind of a dick thing to do, but it's a cut-throat industry so do what you can when you can i guess.

                        this doesn't make me think anything less of toyota. compare all their recall's vs GMs, plus the ones GM DIDN'T recall, i.e. !!!!!LIM gasket from 93-05!!!!!!!

                        Cammed 3400 --> 224whp 210wtq
                        Cammed 3500 --> ???

                          The big difference between this recall and our LIMG woes is that a stuck gas pedal gets people killed. The gasket issue just kills motors. Add this to the last recall for the Corollas over failing brakes and Toyota's earning the image of being dangerous on the road.

                              I personally wouldn't count it against them. At least they are doing right by people and not blatantly turning people away for stuff that should be under warranty like Chrysler. I've read too many horror stories to even think about considering Chrysler to be a semi-decent company. One guy on TRS that lives in Michigan has something like an 2004 Caravan and the front strut towers have rusted out and Chrysler won't do a thing about it, and sadly his isn't the only one. There are tons of them so it's a known problem. At least Toyota is buying back trucks with frame rust problems that could be dangerous. If anything, once they got problems straitened out I would want to buy a Toyota. At least I know if there was a problem they would go to an extreme to make it right. And as for the sticking DBW deal, why can't people think about popping the transmission into neutral?
