What hourly rate do you pay?

I usually pay myself in Chalupas or double cheeseburgers and a Rockstar.

When you take your car to a shop, what do you pay... A reasonable question. Sarcasm not required... Oh yeah.

I usually do work on my car myself. There are things I don't have the room
or tools to do the work so I take it to a shop... That was the question.

Not what you eat after or drink during.

Personally I go with Budweiser or MGD. Food wise, well whatever I decide
to cook up in my kitchen after I clean up.

I haven't taken my car in to a shop in years. And when I say years, I mean like 10-15 yrs!

90-120 dollars an hours is the standard rate locally here. All depends what you want done, where you go, and when (season) you go. Also, depends a lot on car too. Most people around here will not touch a lq1 unless you are plooping golden nuggets out your rear and coughing 100 dollar bills. ..... If by chance you are doing that, you wouldn't typically own that type of engine and you are highly suggested to walk in front of me.

My brother just had a steering rack put in his 03 Trail Blazer this month and the labor rates are as follows.

                Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
                GM Dealer $115/hour
                Independent Shop $75/hour
                2000 Grand Am GT
                2011 Chevy Impala

I usually do my own work, but not everyone can do something on their own, like an alignment.

I used to work for a tire shop and a Mieneke, so there was pretty much anything I couldn't do if my GA needed repairs. The tire shop I used to work for, gives me nice deals now, and the Mieneke has really hooked me up exhaust wise (I've only spent $250 in labor in exhaust work, that's split between two jobs)

Hell, the Mieneke actually lets me do my own oil changes there, if it's not crazy. I'll pull onto the four wheel rack, and lift 'er up. Oil changes certainly are easier on a lift. :P

The tire shop, $85 an hour
The Mieneke, $97 an hour (they just bumped it up.)

Same in Canada too. Here in BC a cheep dealer is $90 and $130 is about the price in the city. Up north where there is tons of work and no people rates are nearing $200

Working out of my own garage, $20/hr seems to tickle people, and I get paid well to boot

It's so bad here for jobs, I got laid off from my own driveway.

Yeah, I'm not near as busy as I used to be I used to have a couple cars here and 2-4 backlogged, but now I am lucky to get something every few weeks. Luckily I have unemployment or my battleship would have been sunk long ago.
