I get on Youtube tonight to check out some vids and see this on my front page as a new one done by TYT...

So that's what Fox News' morning show was going on about the other day. Not really surprising considering only the really stupid stuff hits the news anymore.

I like what my parents did- they'd give us the money and let us pay for the stuff (they even got the change back if they were quick enough to grab it), so we learned you had to pay for things if you wanted them.

It is completely legal to arrest a 6 year old child (Hence why we have Juvenile Detention Facilities) but any good Defense Lawyer would be able to provide the defense of dimishished capacity due to the fact that a 6YO may or may not have the congnitive understanding of paying for an item in a store!

I personally think the parent should have some sort of sanctions against them for turning the child in. As you i took a pack of gum from the store when I was small and my mother walked me right back in to return it or buy it (Been 30+ years hard to remember)

Exactly, back when if I broke a window, I got the belt AND payed for the window. Now parents (not all, but most for the most part it seems) don't take responsibility for the way their kids are raised/behave. And she even almost had the audacity to go collect the $30 for turning her daughter in... I say they should arrest the mom and give her the full sentence for what her daughter did. Then maybe next time around she will teach her kids right from wrong. Then again, parents are also afraid to spank their kids due to states taking their kids away for child abuse for a simple spanking when the kids did wrong, which is just as retarded as parents not teaching kids right from wrong.

I watch a bit on the news awhile ago about a 5 year old who wasn't arrested
because the age limit was 8. At least I believe that was the case.

At least one or more have already been tased at that age so locking a six year old up should certainly be permissible, although a failure in judgement and the system in my oppinion, except where the child is proven to be dangerous (attempted murder or threats).

I didn't watch the video, no need to. The fact that shows like Jerry Springer and a few of the court T.V. shows exist, is example enough that there is an abundance of adults in the world that will make you scratch your head and consider the possibility that we just might have evolved from apes (I don't believe that one bit).

It's never as simple as a parent not raising a child properly, case in point; a child being punished more than once for the same infraction and for doing things they know are wrong.

I believe in God and the bible and that gave me as much of a conscience as a kid as the threat of getting hammered by my mom alone. It filled in the gaps. Now days that teaching is not allowed in schools, and not encouraged at home, so in place of spare the rod spoil the child you have use the rod, goto jail, and loss of the foundation of right and wrong and the origin of many of our laws based on morals and ethics in the bible.

When I was a kid there wasn't much talk of kids killing their parents and pedophiles were tried and sentenced on the spot by the neighborhood adults.

Now kids truly are a product of society with garbage comming in at mach speed from trashy television and entertainment (video game violence, "crap" music, etc), what responsible parent wants their daughter to resemble some of the trampy entertainers they idolize so much. Kids are encouraged to throw caution to the wind and "live their lives" and if mom or dad gets in the way watch your back for fire and bullet holes, which reminds me of, honor thy mother and thy father.

This is the reason why the next generation is going to be quite scary... Parents for those children never learned how to be parents, or never grew up to realize that they had to raise their child and it didn't happen automatically.

I see this with the students my fiance teaches at her high school... if they are not babied they fail miserably and whine and complain that someone wasn't holding their hand through the test.

She will hand out a test 2 days prior to the test day... Tell the students to take it home and practice the questions, she then checks that test in the beginning of class to ensure they are blank and then they have to take that test.... Kids are still not finishing the test, getting answers completely wrong and ending up with 30's and 15's on the test... And who cares... their mother or father (if one is even present) wont punish them properly for doing poor... It will just be the teachers fault for not helping them.

The world is a sick place right now with the generation that's out there... Hell shitty parents span from ones who have kids that are 19 all the way down to 6 apparently.

I look at it as job security... none of those idiots are going to be able to replace me in my job if they can't pass a measly math or science class.

Joseph I respect your beliefs, but I was raised in a totally different aspect, I was not bathed in religion or the bible... hell I've never turned a page on one, and I don't regret it in the least. I turned out just fine. Its the lack of parenting, plain and simple, regardless of which method used if the parents are not there in a supporting or even punishing way the child will develop negative tendencies. Yes I can also agree that video games and media are burning their minds, but at the same time there should be an adult there teaching them the difference between reality and imaginary. I played Wolfenstein, Quake, and all those shoot em up games, But I'm not some crazy serial killer, once again because I had parents there reinforcing that I was playing a game and a game is not something that should be re-enacted. I also think its just the fact that I had interaction with other people and went out side and that I didn't live breath and eat these games.

It's parenting, they are just not there these days... They are too busy with their careers to raise a child, or face book or trying to stay young... It's time to grow up and take responsibility.

A local radio DJ often says that people have to get licenses to do things, like drive a car. Yet, anyone can be a parent? He feels people should have to take a test and get a license in order to be a parent. Extreme? Maybe... He reiterated this the other night after telling a news story...

A 4-yr old snuck (sp?) out of his house and broke into a neighbor's house (without them waking up) and opened all of their Christmas presents. The kid's mom woke up and noticed the kid missing, so she called the cops. They ended up finding the kid on the street corner, wearing a dress he had stolen from the house he broke into, and drinking a beer.

People in general in society just amaze me, I mean, common sense just simply doesn't seem to sink into people anymore. Here's an example:

A buddy of mine recently got into a nasty accident. The tie rod on the Jeep Cherokee he was driving failed at 60mph. The car veered off to the right, loss of all control. The Jeep flipped over 10 times, he blacked out in the process. When he came to, he was hurt bad, and covered in blood by the side of the road. A woman was in front of him, and this is what she asks...seriously, this is what she said:

"Do you want me to call the police?"

What. The. Fuck.

You see someone hurt really bad, covered in blood, and you really have to ask that? I'm terrified to think of what will happen if another event like 9/11 happens if this is how people will react. God help us all. Wait...nevermind.
