  • Got dyno'd

    Hey everyone,

Haven't posted here in a long time, but I've been reading regularly. Just sayin' hello again

I got on a mobile dyno at a car show this weekend, I pulled 160 hp / 179 ft-lb. I've been having an ongoing knock problem (~12 degrees of KR driving around). Kills my 1/4. It didn't show up on the dyno, is that normal, like is there enough load being put on the engine?? I'm pretty sure it's false, I've done everything to narrow down real knock with no success.

My exhaust y pipe was open, not sure how that would affect things or not.. forgot to close it

    Mods:
    GMS MAF
    intake
SLP exhaust w/ y pipe open
    DHP reprogram
    TOG headers

    Vids

    The dyno sheet

What do you guys think? I'm happy with the results I guess.

Well, that sounds about right to me. You don't have much for engine mods, other than the MAF and chip. You've got the exhaust done right, now maybe go for a cam or a blower.

Torque seems low to me but then again, im used to the numbers of the 3.1 with 150 hp and over 220 torque. I dunno why you have KR though with the DDHP reprogram. Stock compression so you shouldnt have an issue. Perhaps the MAF is sending the wrong readings and it runs lean sometimes?

Not sure Ben.. Last time I was at the drag strip I was playing with the MAF's and with the aftermarket one, KR was actually 2-3 degrees less on back to back runs.

I've yet to try the stock MAF with the screen still in it, mine doesn't have one. i've poured over the engine bay for anything banging around, secured it, tied it, placed dynamat here and there. Have not logged anything on the road lately but I can. Also last time at Englishtown I put in 2 gal of 104, and KR didn't move a drop.. I'm pretty sure it's false, just as to why, who knows, maybe I have some powertrain noise

One of my friends was saying that the dyno does not put much load on there and KR might not show up.. is this true?

The dyno isn't gonna have the weight of the car as load, so I can see that being true. I would try the stock maf with the screen in place and see what that does. Perhaps your knock sensor is overly sensitive though? Maybe the knock sensor filter (dunno how that is setup on OBD2) is allowing more noise through as well. For my car its on the chip (memcal) and you can actually get different knock amounts just by swapping around memcals.

Maybe your injectors need to be cleaned? Another possibility anyway.

Yes - I forgot, I have not inspected injectors. My car has had 2 replaced.. Fuel filter was ~13k ago, I do that in the spring so soon. I was going to get that changed and then try some of that top end cleaner. I have a friend that said he'd help if I drive over there, can hopefully raise the floor of the knock sensor range. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
