Double Check Your Spark Plug Wiring...All the way from the ICM to each Plug B4 doing anything drastic...

How do you have a 3.1 in a 96 gp? You should have a 3100 SFI unless someone did a swap.

Check plug seating, orientation placement, and what RPM's does it occur at?

Thats the whole front bank and then some...Check the igintion module wiring. Pull the plugs and see if there wet with coolant, try replacing them and seeing if that works. Did you torque the heads properly and in the correct tightening sequence? Head gaskets are a big job so just make sure all your wiring is in order, try checking the fuel injector harness and connectors at the injectors. Off the top of my head I can only think of the head gaskets being mis aligned maybe (did your engine have the head dowels?) and wrong push rod placement. Just because it's so many cylinders makes it hard to pin point right off
