I haven't even seen 7 yet other than commercials. XP is going to stay unless 7 is necessary. I don't own any dual core CPUs so is there really a point in upgrading software?

unless you have software that requires 7, don't waste your money. unless you have other reasons for it, it's not worth it.

+1 vote on Win7. You buy it now and you'll be supported longer as XP is well on it's way out with Vista next in line.

I bought Windows 7 a few weeks ago, the family pack +3 because my Vista install
from Feb 2008 finally stopped booting and I wasn't able to restore. It's ironic since
I only rebooted every 2-3 months to play SOSE, Supreme Commander, GTA, or
whatever game I was in the mood for.

Windows 7, has only ran for a night, but it seems better for games. Less of them
hang, they load faster, and the physical memory usage is less so on the big maps
          the game runs faster longer.

The first day I was setting it up I noticed some hanging, but that passed after I
rebooted. Windows 7 didn't require a reboot after installing my video driver but
I think it had a issue until it was rebooted.

If you have the ability to stay away from it, DON'T UPGRADE from vista to 7... Save what you want and do a clean install... Upgrading only pulls over every little issue you ever had. I did it for S&G on a laptop that had vista... not only did it take 4-5 hours to do, but it pulled over every issue I was trying to fix on that thing. They have yet to master their upgrade procedure.

Right, the upgrade will let you do a clean install too.

I specifically meant the installation procedure, I wasn't referring simply to upgrading to the new OS.
