It will just be a great day when Kerry takes office and we can all marry our siblings and our household pets all at the same time. We will also be able to get abortions 9 months into the whole thing and won't be able to own a firearm.
That's what you care about? Sure the abortion issue is a problem, but guns and gay marriage. We don't need guns, and we see gay people all over doing what ever they want anyway. Let them get married who gives a shit. It's the fault of such narrow-minded people that the world is so fucked up. I personally worry about AIDS, cancer, pollution, world poverty, and the development of nuclear weapons. Rather than a person marrying thier cat. GET REAL!!!

Yes, let's just blow that all out of proportion........ Of course that's not all I care about. I guess what I'm saying is that if a candidate is so liberal that abortion and gay marriage become common-place, what is next? This is a wasted topic to discuss. Regardless of what I say, some people are going to disagree with me. I can't make you understand some of what I believe just like you cannot make me understand some of how you believe. And yes, my narrow-mindedness has single handedly screwed the world up. We don't see eye-to-eye on two topics and you are going to call me narrow-minded? Boy, talk about stereotyping. I mentioned the guns because trying to take away guns is going right against the constitution. The gay marriage thing and abortion are just kind of hot topics in the news that I personally don't agree with. I don't have enough time in my life to begin to talk about the things that I worry about with our country. These are just a start. Personally, I think that Democrats have done a better job with our country economically. Bush has not done anything to increase our economy and this war certainly isn't going to help anyone. I believe Kerry would probably do things to help our country out, but I'm just a little concerned about where his morals are. I'm not even beginning to say Bush is perfect so don't even start with that.............

Why should this get locked? Things get heated when you talk politics. It's all in good fun. I really don't have any beef with Lyle and hopefully he can say the same about me.

I think Bush is doing great. Investor confidence is up, the stock market is going, unemployment is 5.7%(?), and new home sales are at record numbers. Face it: 5.7% unemployment is really good and near an historic all-time low. If so many people were without jobs, how come they keep buying all these houses? Couple this with a world-wide recession, ~20% unemployment in Western Europe, and fighting a war against an enemy among us, I think Bush is doing great.

About the war: What happened to the Democratic party that liberated Europe and Asia in WWII? What happened to "Never again, never forget"?
Some people say this is about oil. While Iraq is an oil-producing country, its fields yield little sweet crude (the stuff for gasoline). This is about more than just oil. This is about enforcing 14 UN resolutions against a known user and producer of WMD. Its against a man who willed millions of his own people. Saddam trained, supplied and harbored terrorists (we caught one of Bin Laden's lt.s last week, and don't forget about Nick Berg).
We found shells with Sarin and mustard gas. Now, I know some of you say that two 155mm shells aren't WMD, but all of these weapons were supposed to be destroyed in 1991. I say they're like cockroaches: if you can see one, there are a lot more.
I spoke with a colonel on leave from Iraq. 96% of Iraqis support our presence. They see the few mistakes we made as a small price to pay for the removal of sadistic Saddam and the opportunity of freedom. When elections take place in January, Iraq will be free to choose its own form of government. I bet they won't elect another Saddam!

Speaking of elections, I thought Bush was the anti-Christ in 2000. I believed all the garbage I saw on TV. But when I looked through all the hype and smoke, I realized that the media can present the same story two different ways. Why is Bush responsible for Abu Graib (sp?), while Clinton wasn't for Somolia? On the other hand, why did Regan skate by Contra while Carter got wacked with Iran?
We are fighting a war against an invisible enemy who's sole purpose is to kill as many of us as possible. Do we really need another Nigeria, Cole, 911, 311, or even a WMD to remember what we are fighting for? Is Canada waiting for EVERY SINGLE PERSON in WINNIPEG to DIE from a nuclear or gas attack before they fight against terrorists? Funny how its the Canadians who are the most outspoken about the US president.
So here it is 2004. Elections aren't far away. I'm still pro-choice and it doesn't matter to me who other people want to marry. But I can see that terrorism and the economy affects me; thats why I'm voting for Bush.

Bush is certainly no angel. There are plenty of actual issues to take Bush to task on, yet they are being ignored by his opponents who simply try to stir up outrage. The opposition figures it's easier to stir up outrage and place blame rather than invest in educating their voter base one why Bush's view is incorrect.

Rather than explain why they didn't want to goto Iraq, they're more content to point at Bush and call him a treasonous liar who conveniently changes the reasons we went to Iraq. And this is from the former vice president.

Come on. Can you intellectually argue that George W Bush is a treasonous liar and maintain any kind of credibility? Of course not, which is why there's no open debate on the 'points' brought up by the opposition. Yet, it stirs up just enough outrage in the ill educated, and the ones looking to place blame through group association that it draws votes.

It's easier to stir up emotion rather than educate your voter base, according to current Democratic campaigning practices. Zell Miller should be listened to; he can help bring them back to a place where I'd vote for em again.
