then i'm sure you already have a relay that's activated by the ignition that has some tolerance built into it for the little bit of extra juice it draws...

the power line i have it on right now is straight off the battery (optima redtop) and is also the power line for my Tekonsha P3 Electric Trailer Brake Controller. (my car has a flat four on it) if you know trailer towing, youre scratching your head right now. haha if not. i sound like a total geek.
P3 = one of the most expensive trailer brake controllers on the market (prices range from $180 - $400!!!) lol idiots pay alot for bright shiney things.
Flat Four = Trailer plug with nothing but BASIC LIGHTING need atleast a 6 way for brakes, because legally you have to have a trailer charge line with it for the break away battery
why do i have it then? it has a batter voltage monitor built in and i got it for free. lol plus its installed inside the armrest storage.

but if it only draws a few watts, you might as well hook it to any relay that gets energized when the ignition goes on.

i suppose i could. one thing i was planning though was to add more lights. i want all the 'floor' lights on the same switch. so probably atleast another kit like this, or two 12" neon tubes for each side to light up the back. im not really doing much more than that for aftermarket lighting (aside from a couple more neons in the trunk.) but what you are talking about, if i use a wire like that to power it, it might work. but i know forsure it will work if i just use that same wire to trigger an extra relay. (i have a 20 year old command start in there too, so theres already like 6 or 7 relays under there already!! lol)

I did my XM install with no wires about 4 years ago... I cant stand those on the side tuners... I'm really surprised that the radio you have does not support a XM or Sirius Direct unit so you can tune the stations through the HU.... I guess thats the trade off when you get a DVD unit, they drop some of the other simple radio functions that come in handy.Last edited by 3400-95-Modified; 10-27-2009, 11:54 AM.

did i say i didnt wanna add one? i dunno. i think that kinda thing is fun. maybe i mis typed or you mis read... i dunno. either way, i find it fun and were pretty dead at work for the most part. my friend scratched the shifter plate i painted yesterday, yesterday. so i re-painted it again today. lol and this time i glued the gear indicator thinggy in too before i cleared it. good thing i sanded it, but next time ill sand it a little more. it doesnt look bad, if you ask me. but today im not much of a perfectionist today.

i like alpines they make the best HUs if you ask me. my friend had one, like 10 years ago. and it had such awesome options it was freakin phenomenal!! it had built in crossovers for the high low and mid range. plus im pretty sure they were channel specific too. the sound that came out of that deck was UNMATCHED by anything ive heard still, unless it was a CRAZY setup. my friends car, just had the deck, surrounds (all alpine aswell) and a 12" sub in the trunk. most of the time he rode with the sub off, and man the way that car sounded!! woooo wee i miss it. then someone stole the deck, from out of his house!!
