The condom rocket girl? If so check her other links, she does some pretty crazy stuff. She is also pretty cool in person. I met her and her hubby at a mud rally last year.

Is that the one that also did the "Sprunt" Commercial? You know...when they tried to combine a refreshing soda pop drink ...Like "Sprite"...with a Feminine Deodorant Spray? Just what a woman needs "...to feel soooo Fresh!" at a Mudd Rallee.

LOL...I thought that you'd appreciate the play on words..."...A Better "Wife" Through CHEMISTRY..."

But ...trying to get back to the Topic At Hand...(I'm not sure exactly where it was that this thread went wrong...but...)

I checked on the creation of the Nickel Acetate issue as far as trying to find locale vendors who don't want to sell you an Industrial Sized Order of the Nickel Oxide Powder...but no can do... So I went back to the eBay listing and took the plunge to buy the finished product after confirming with the Seller that what he was offering is indeed the anhydrous (dessicated) Nickel Acetate of the "Green" variety as opposed to getting the "Black" stuff and having this experiment going awry. At a Dry Weight of 500 Grams ...its about 440 Grams more than I need for this simple test...but if it works out...I'd like to try the process on some other things...like the tool from Kent-Moore that allows you to hold the Timing Cover in place when removing a Water Pump. As you can see from the images...this handy tool could use a nice covering of Nickel Metal and preserve it from sitting around in my tool chest until its needed...rusting away. After that...I'll prep the Oil Pump Drive Hold-Down-Claw for the 3.4L Engine and post the pics as things "Develop"...

By the way...this powder can be easily reconstituted in about 300 mls of Acetic Acid (or ...Distilled Malt Vinegar...for they are a "Rose by Any Other Name... One and the Same Things"...)... and once dissolved into that nice "Emerald Green" liquid again... I'll get to work on plating the K-M J-29176 Tool using some nice, coiled up, Pure Nickel Guitar String windings as the source metal in the electrolytic solution and see how it comes out. Of course...I'll have to coat the bolt threads with something to keep the Nickel ions from plating them...otherwise...they will not be able to thread properly afterward.

Okay... This afternoon... The large bottle of Nickel Acetate arrived... and as promised... I conducted a complete experiment on the Kent-Moore Hold-Down Tool which can be seen in digital images and videos here. There is enough information on my two Photo-Bucket "Talkies" supported by some decent still shots there to give you a complete rundown of "The Good...The Bad...and The UGLEE" on the subject of "Basic Electroplating using Nickel as the Donor Metal"

More experiments about this will follow as soon as I take care of a more immediate and acute mechanical job for my ill neighbor... (See the post called "INTEKATASTROPHE" for details on that circumstance...
