  • bigger throttlebody

    Hi Guys,

I have a 87 camaro that has a 2.8 that has been converted to 3.4L. I am looking to upgrade the MPFI intake and throttlebody. Does anyone make upgrades for RWD v6 60degree engines?

Best thing to do is swap to the aluminum heads Simply putting a bigger TB on a poor flowing heads won't net you much gain (if any at all).

I can get you all kinds of parts for your RWD

      Hey John,
My understanding is that the alum. heads won't work on the 2.8 RWD motor. The motor has been stroked and bored and have had head work done as well. That is why I'm looking for a better intake system or atleast a bigger throttlebody for the MPFI system

The heads work just fine, but you have to use the aluminum head intakes as well.

Only the 3500 and bigger heads won't work on the 2.8 because the chamber is wider than the cylinder bore. 3100 and 3400 top ends work.

I have seen some guy TIG a TPI TB to the 3.4 upper manifolds, but they are boosted and like mentioned earlier, your intakes and heads are the bottleneck, not the TB.

Simple test to see if you need a larger TB is to take a vacuum reading before and after the throttle plate. If there is more than 2" vacuum difference, then the TB is a bottleneck.

x2-definitely get a set of 3x00 heads & intake-its not worth it to mess with the iron heads.
