Here's a good story....

I want to say that this could only happen in Kansas, but I'm sure there will be at least a few others that will chime in with similar stories...

So I was getting ready to leave work today (work maintenance for the local mall) when a food court worker yells over "Hey, a deer ran into your car today". I kinda chuckled and was like WTF. I park in a back service (you know, those NO PARKING delivery areas ) area with like 5 other cars, mainly cause I can, but also so nothing happens to the car. So needless to say, she starts telling me this story about a deer running through the parking lot, hitting my car, setting off my alarm (I was wondering why it beeped when I disarmed it), blah blah. She's like, "It hit pretty hard, you might wanna see if it dented it". Wouldn't you know it!!! I'll take some pics tomorrow for everyone to see...

Anyway, started looking around, and there was deer hair everywhere, including all over the car! Well, not only did the deer dent the right rear quarter panel (right above the gas door), it decided to pull a Bo and Luke Duke over the trunk lid and rear window. So yeah, I've got a dented rear quarter, and hoove scratches on the trunk lid and left rear quarter. Needless to say, I'll be contacting the insurance people tomorrow. If they decide to fix it (most people say they should), this will be the 3rd time the car has had to be painted (that side even) in just 4 years (all in Kansas... 1st was a Mustang hit me, 2nd was hail damage).

Just figured I'd share this unique story. And the best part was, the mall truck was parked like 3 feet from my car, blocking anything (at least I though) that could have come close to hitting my car....

When you work for the mall, and the no parking zone is set up by the mall (the mall manager parks there, as well as the operations manager, the mall truck, etc...) it doesn't matter. I could easily say that the area is set aside for mall employees and the no parking is so that store employees and shoppers don't park there.

Being that it wasn't a car that hit you, I would say it really doesn't matter what kind of a zone it was in.

Deer are so stupid. I was behind a semi the other day that took one out. That was fun to see! I've seen a deer get shot, fall down, and the others that he was with don't even run. Instead, they come back to check on their fallen partner (of course, those that return also have a similar fate! )

Oh man, my sister used to work for a nearby campground... she was driving one of the campground's trucks out a dirt road on the place, when a deer ran out of the woods and slammed into the side of the truck.

This story would make a good Geico commercial. I totaled a Lincoln Town car in Ks. But I actually hit the deer! At least you get new paint.

I must say I have never hit a deer. I did hit a turkey once :P

The only deer I ever hit was already dead...I'm cruising through NE Wisconsin into Michigan at like midnight on my way back home from picking up a set of Lightning Rods in Eau Claire, and I'm half out of it (5 hours sleep over the last 3 days, 15 hour drive to Eau Claire from Niagara Falls, 6 hours sleep, 15 hours back) and I'm behind this mid-90s Monte and another car...so I'm doing the whole taillight following thing (dangerous when you're tired!). All of a sudden there's all this blood ALL OVER the road. I'm thinkin' "Wow, something not nice happened here!" just as I look up at the other cars again to see that they had swerved to the left to avoid the deer carcass in the middle of the road. I was fortunate - I only had a bit of venison on my engine cradle ('87 Celeb Eurosport Wagon), but the Cav that was already pulled over lost it's entire exhaust system from the front right back.

There was a guy that got killed in the area where I live here in Canada when he was test driving a motorcycle and a herd of deer ran into the side of him. That wasn't pretty so I hear.

Only hit 1 deer? I hit 5 last year and 2 the year before that. Fuck them stupid pieces of shit! Everyone loves to feed them and watch them " Oh, they are so beautiful to watch" Not at 70 miles an hour coming through your windshield they're not! I don't know whats worse, the stupid brainless deer, or the stupid, brainless people who feed the fuckin deer! Can I just kill em all? Heheheh Metallica, Kill Em All!

what I mean by out of hand is my buddy was driving to work 2 weeks ago and right in front of the refuge visitors center a deer slams into the drivers side door of his Explorer running 60mph. Didnt kill the deer but damn near caused him to wreck. Insurance doled out 2 grand on that one. Of course there was the guy at work who got attacked by a buck a couple of years ago too. Our health insurance covered that deal too.
