  • Hybrid suggestions <rant>

I understand us guys with iron heads are held back with the lack of flow versus the newer heads but why is it any question thats clearly or even vaguely suggestion using iron heads turns into a debate?

Not everybody is ready or able to do all the required work to say put a hybrid in something like an old s-10. The whole debate has gotten out of hand and even on other forums I'm seeing misinformed people suggesting the swap and not have a clue how to do it them self. They read about it and assume anybody off the street can do it in one evening with minor tools since its the greatest thing since sliced bread cause everybody suggests it.

I guess my main problem is just the debate, I understand getting the info out there and letting somebody decide for them self but guys can we at least try to clean up some of the threads and not turn it into a big pissing match about how the hybrid swap is so much better. Just answer the question, suggest the option, and let the OP decide if they want to research it further.

    Sorry for the rant

Can you link me to these debates? I don't read iron head threads that often to notice the reason for your concern.

but the hybridz is sooo much betterzzz

it is a bit of work, i've read through the guides, but for someone serious about performance, its a necessity to either make a hybrid, or convert the block to be RWD capable.

Its not really aimed at this forum per say just something I've noticed in general on a few threads with 60 degree sections, mainly s10 sites.

I understand the work required, just getting sick of seeing kids suggest it to others that neither party have any clue about the work.

You can use a RWD block to do the swap so its not really any converting to be done on the block and just the top end BTW

if I was going to go through the trouble, i would go with the newer block anyways due to the improvements in oiling and the fact that you'll probably find them with a lot less miles than the RWD 60* blocks...

so, yes i'm agreeing with you're saying, just that if i were doing it, i would go the extra step.
