i tried selling a dirtbike on there for weeks with no avail, it was a fantastic deal i just wanted it out of the garage & needed the extra cash, & i got dozens & dozens of people who fit that description.
i actually had people try & drop me down to like 20 bucks & they wanted it delivered!
finally after LOADS of people saying "i want it, give me your address" & then not showing up & dropping off contact, i got fed up & put in my ad something along the lines of:
i need to sell this asap because i need the money, its cheap, its worth it, & i wont go lower. also if you email me just a phone number-i will delete your email, if it comes from Gmail-i will delete your email, if you have 50 questions-dont email me, if you arent sure you want it-dont email me.
sounds ludicrous, but i put every necessary detail in the ad & $50 for a running name brand 2 stroke dirtbike is a damn good deal-& if someone that actually needed a bike or wanted to resell to make a quick buck saw it they would snatch it up.
after posting that crap in my ad i had the bike sold in 4 hours, after trying for 2-3 weeks. that nasty arrogant sounding crap weeded out the jackov's & left only genuinely interested people (i also put my reason for posting that stuff in the ad, so people wouldnt think i was just being a dick).
LOL thats hilarious!! i was going to ask you if you still had it till i got to the end. i would pay $50 or more for a decent working dirt bike!! shit, ill throw it right on top of my lumina to get it home if i have to!! lol
Had a similar problem to no_doz. Tried selling my '86 Suburban a few years ago on craigslist. I wrote 556 words detailing everything good, bad and ugly about the truck, with a decent price ($1500). Had a 350, 700R4, 3.73 rear end, towing package, like 166k miles, started first crank, ran awesome, got 12 mpg, new paint. Only got emails from Nigerian scammers and the local ripoff artist who "buys any car running or not", offered not much more than the junkyard would've given me. Got one prospect who looked at it, then promptly offered half of my asking price. GTFO.
Ended up taking a loss on it so I could finance the acquisition of my Celebrity wagon. Just couldn't afford filling a 40 gallon fuel tank every week, ya know? Wasn't through CL though; a salesman at the dealership I worked at got a friend of his to buy it. Last I heard it was rolling around with ladders on top of it and paint cans in the back.
