i was reading a up on some of the smaller v6's using unique technologies & i came across the mazda 2.3 v6 that was on wards top 10 best engine list from 95-98-& uses the miller cycle/a supercharger to handle some of the compression by leaving open the intake valve during a portion of the compression stroke (i assume until the pressure would be a tad too much & then the intake valve would shut), thus freeing up some extra power & giving up to 15% more efficiency than standard otto cycle engines.
could this be why some of these powerful 3.8's get such great mpg?
