what??? in the picture i could swear i see what looks like 1/4 inch of gap if not more between the plate & tb wall...

am i just seeing this picture wrong? certainly looks the plate is a good deal too small and off to the side...i dont see anywhere that says it comes with a new throttle plate to match, it just says that ones polished & comes with "low profile screws".

What you are seeing is the reflection of the front lip of the TB opening. The throttle plate is polished to a mirror finish, and the picture is taken at an angle, therefore you are going to see the reflection of the depth of the TB. If you don't believe me, look in the opposite corner and you can very clearly see the camera taking the photo.

Stock Gen 2 TB's had the shaft halved from the factory. I don't think they had a serious problem with reliability. However I have never seen any airflow numbers to show an increase or decrease in airflow between a halved and a stock TB shaft side by side.

I am by no means defending the product. I am just telling no_doz that he sucks at evaluating a picture. Even if this product is a POS, its still not as bad as he is trying to state, ie having a 1/4" gap between the plate and the TB wall.

Well from some of the other pics, like 60dgrzbelow0 posted, it does appear bored and not just a factory 56mm unit, which BTW, would be what they should have started with... LOL.

As long as the plate is cut perfect and seals as good as stock, you won't have high idle issues.

But yeah when you can get stock 56mm units, and swap your shaft and half the shaft yourself, why bother with a bored 52mm??

Yeah halved shafts are factory on the gen2, and some imports/etc have it thinned on the faces. I'm sure it helps some, but how much who knows. I could see it giving you more CFM at WOT, but yet not taking away throttle resolution as would going to an overall bigger diameter would.

The RWD stuff is upside down/backwards to the 56mm units, but the advertising on it suggests they are compatible. From the linkage, it looked like a 56mm unit to me.

Dynomation says a 55mm TB flows 315.3 cfm at 1.5inHg. 56mm flows 326.7 cfm. 58mm flows 350.6. I measure the whole system on my flowbench, not the TB itself but i really doubt the area of the shaft being removed equals 3mm overbore or even 2mm overbore on a circle. Given the air doesn't flow equally past every surface and the leading edge of the throttle body will cause turbulence near the plate, its just not feasible.

wow i didnt notice that before! i was going to say-if the gap was as bad as what it looked like, then it would be like you were on the throttle all the time, but that was just the reflection. thanks for pointing that out

I think someone should PM the guy the link to this page just to show him how much criticism hes gettin lol But I wouldnt want to give this site a bad rep. But for real the ONLY throttle bodies that I would purchase for my 660 is the billet WOT TB in the store which is a work of art by the way.

Oh and on another side note and a bit off topic....PHONES are also terrible to buy off of EBAY. Stay away from a company called Bidallies they sell "refurbished" phones with a 15 day quarantee I have went through 2 verizon xv6800 cellphones. The first one the touchscreen crapped out on me and the replacement they sent me the wifi doesnt work on it!!! And now they WILL NOT send me another phone!! Ebay is full of crooks and Ebay personnel could care less. Im done with ebay.... end of rant.

This raises another question I'm curious about...If this TB does what it should, function wise, how does this increase of air flow, however slight ...or puny...if you prefer, affect the Throttle Air Bypass Valve and Sensor when the TB Baffle is spring-loaded shut during idle? Will the stock ECM to adapt to this mod?

Is it better to have an adapter machined (or make it by hand) to go larger TB, using another stock GM part --- or is it better to modify the stock one? Seems to me like less work to make an adapter than bore a cast TB, make/find another throttle plate, plus dis-assembly/reassembly etc.
