what??? in the picture i could swear i see what looks like 1/4 inch of gap if not more between the plate & tb wall...
am i just seeing this picture wrong? certainly looks the plate is a good deal too small and off to the side...i dont see anywhere that says it comes with a new throttle plate to match, it just says that ones polished & comes with "low profile screws".
the best part is, the guy who is selling this wonderful piece of shit has a hell of a lot more for just about every car! So that means I could put one on both my cars. HELL YEAH!

This was only directed at the awesome marketing attempt by the seller. Is it 55, is it 56, or is it vitually 58. Why call it a 56, then say its a 55? No way in hell it flows the same as a 58mm would.

I don't understand how he gets this 56mm + half shaft mod = 58mm??? I never realized removing part of the shaft can turn a 56mm bore into a 58mm bore.
hes not saying that it makes it that big, hes claiming that removing half of the shaft that the throttle plate pivots on makes up difference in flow between this & a 58mm one.
wouldnt you be kinda concerned that the screws may come loose & the plate may get sucked loose? maybe thats an extreme scenario or down right impossible, but its something that came to mind when i saw the picture.
half shaft mod... thats the part that gets to me... is it really going to make that much of a difference that you have to cut half of it away? besides... that would make it like an airplane wing, it would create a low pressure zone that would cause it to become airborne or take a dirt nap... lol (yes i know its NOT gonna move anywhere. but its fun to think about while my cat licks herself infront of me.
..also, below0... I like your use of a capital "D" in Dumbass . One isn't born with this knowledge & we can only learn from being taught by both experience, and by others (with the exception of a lot of sarcasm this forum is great for learning these things). A real man can admit when he's messed up as you have done, therefore... You are not a Dumbass.
A Dumbass would try & argue as to why that tb is the most badass thing since sliced bread.
also the reason i made the 1/4 throttle comment is because the tb's purpose is to limit the flow of air into the engine, by opening the tb you are allowing in more air, your car's computer recognizes this & applies more fuel (air/fuel have to be ratioed properly, way too much or too little could result in your engine not running, and your car's computer is designed to keep this ratio to a specific setting), the result is bigger explosions & therefore more power.
when the tb is closed, its supposed to not allow much air in whatsoever, & the amount of gap between the flapper (probably not the proper term) and the walls of the tb itself should NOT be there-& is the equivalent of probably 20-25% throttle, & ...your car's computer is probably not going to recognize that something is wrong and go into limp mode-run like crap-I'm not really sure-never tried it.
Whew... I'm feeling a little better now...Thanks! I can see from the red outline you made in the pic you show further down in the post around the shadow that it does look like a completely FUBAR'd job. But having been holding and looking this thing over pretty good ever since Ben's post and trying to get that "JBF" look off my kisser, I can assure you that the machined aluminum throttle baffle (Butterfly-Flapper?) looks very snug... I doubt that you could slip an "RCH" in between the baffle and the bored inner body...so I'm glad you explained your concerns about the way it looked. I took a picture of the TB from the back to show you that the seller didn't just carve out the outer edge with a bastard file...LOL

Now see... This is EXACTLY how I got myself into this mess... I was reading the eBay TB advert...and my mind wandered for too long (without the entertaining distraction of seeing a cat rouging its bum with its tongue in feline admiration)...and so I started thinking about "The changes in the volume of a cylinder" and just for a moment...even Zeno's Paradox entered my mind... (you know... the one about the Arrow?) and then suddenly I was trying to calculate the volume of the 55mm bore, and ...since this problem actually involves the calculation of the volume of three, nested cylinders, that lead to more wondering about...
(1) The Volume of the "New and Improved Bore!"
Minus (-)
(2) The Volume of the full sized cylindrical rod...(Divided in 1/2)
Minus (-)
(3) The Volume of the Aluminum Baffle Wafer
...and that's when the ancient problem of the Arrow in Zeno's Paradox had me wondering how is it even possible for you guys who do this stuff in your heads can EVER know for sure what amount of air is allowed to pass through any TB at any given time with any amount of accuracy...and by the time I got this far to ponder whether it would really work... I "effed" up and pressed the "PAY NOW!" Button... and then... I fell asleep. LOL
