  • street racing & trooper fun!

well my gf & i went out to get some late night fireworks at 11pm & missed them by 10 minutes because we got lost & went the wrong way (bummer), then we stopped at taco bell, got our burritos & all that, & parked in the parking lot facing the main straight stretch. to our delight, there were tons of people sitting around in lawnchairs, in nice corvettes & low riders, in the backs of trucks, or just standing in the nearby parking lot. my gf didnt have a clue as to what was going on but ive watched enough youtube videos & noticed too many customized dsm's (LOL) in the crowd to know that this was some sort of a small time drag gathering, there were 4-5 dsms & over half a dozen civics/accords, & 3-4 93+ f bodys.

they raced 2 at a time, & one guy had a 03-04 accord coupe with v6 vtec, but NO paintjob & lots of primer & different shades of paint & such, the car looked like CRAP!!! this guy could have bought $5 worth of black spraypaint & made this car look pretty damn good (everything else was great), & it obviously could haul from the races we saw it do (it smoked a dsm or 2 & what i believe to be a sleeper turbo civic coupe 94-9.

well throughout the little races (they were short drags of about probably 80-200 yards max) after the sleeper civic coupe smoked a non turbo 92-93 civic hatch like 5 seconds later a trooper goes rolling past doing like 60 but with no lights. shortly after we watch the accord go up against of all things, a 90-91 gtp with not much done to it (maybe an air filter & catback exhaust), it went against the vtec 3.0 honda v6 & first race the honda took off late so the gtp let off for a second or 2 to let the honda guy get on it & the gtp still smoked it, then when they started at the same time the honda got 1 car ahead & stayed there until about 180 yards in where the gtp passed it &was 20 yards from the end of the longest race we'd seen when a 3rd white car came with v8 a roaring up on both of them & by the time we noticed that there was lights & no sirens those guys were boned!!

then some guy that had been watching the whole time hopped in his vehicle real fast & went up to the parkinglot where both guys had pulled over (wise choices),& by the time we drove past both racers were still in their cars waiting for their tickets & the guy in the 3rd car that drove up from the crowd appeared to be giving the cop holy hell standing outside his open cruiser window with the lights on LOL.

sorry for the book, but i was PISSED about the fireworks, & then entertained like a mofo to get to see some sleepers in action as well as a lightly modded GTP i cant wait to get mine running, maybe with a little effort i can turn i into something someone will go out & whoop on some honda/dsm ass with.

Street racing can be fun (and dangerous as we all know), but IMHO $20 for the drag strip > a couple hundred for a ticket and a few years of increased insurance. Glad you didn't let your foot get the best of you and get caught up with the crowd
