  • 3.1 to replace 3.4 but. . .

I'm swapping out a 3.4 DOHC that's seized from lack of oil, and have a new 3.1to bolt in,including the wiring harness & ecm, but can I use the same 4t60E that was bolted to the 3.4 DOHC? The trans was working great, but the motor is locked up. This is in a 95' Cutlass Supreme coupe.

the stock gearing for a 95 3.4 is 3.43:1 final.

what year and model did this 3.1 come out of, and is it a 3.1 or 3100?
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

      3.1 (3100) 95 Cutlass Supreme to replace 3.4 DOHC

The engine I'm installing is a 3100 V6 out of a donor 95 Cutlass Supreme from a wrecking yard. I also have the complete engine harness & ECM also to swap over into the same year Cutlass Supreme that has the siezed 3.4 DOHC. I would like to use the transmission that's in the car, as it is in excellent condition, but will it work with the 3100 's ECM?

the 95 3100 computer will be expecting a 3.33 final gear, as opposed to the 3.43 that your car has. i don't know if thats enough to set off a code or not, and if the 3100 has the shift points set by MPH, then going WOT, you may hit the rev limiter before it shifts. i'm not entirely sure about that one though...
