Need help with my site

What is that generic site index type template that I tend to see on everyone's websites? I would like to incorporate that into mine for easy file sharing.

I have it down where I can load files, make pages etc but my www .site/index.php will only come up blank. I thought there was a way to have any files or folders I put up to show in some generic text format without having to go through and create hyperlinks for every pic/file etc.

I'm a little confused about what you are asking are you talking about some kind of CMS?

I'm talking about something that looks like this...

Return to parent directory

I can get the source code via browser, but I thought there was a way to set it up to do the directory breakdown automatically through the server.

Yeah, just don't put an index page in there. Then it will load up like that automatically. Not really very safe though...

I had to edit a config file in linux to add the index option for only certain folders. There are like 30 folders on my server but only 4 or 5 are indexed. Keeps people from browsing through all my crap.
