  • were to buy on motor valve spring checking tool

    anyone know were to get one? i know they make them that bolt down to the rocker stud that u can use to check the valve springs on the motor. just cant find one.

    after looking at my data logs form the dyno i think its possible i may have worn out my valve springs when i spun the motor up to 8k but i really dont feel like taking them off the heads to check them

    If your talking about one where you use the rocker stud to take the spring off, I bought one at autozone or advance auto for around 15-20 bucks. I'm thinking autozone. Just make sure you put a rope in the cyclinder threw the spark plug hole and turn the motor over by hand untill it locks so the valve won't fall down in the cyclinder.

      same thing except what im looking for isnt for removing the valve spring.

      it tests the spring presure while its on the head bolted to the motor.

        So you are going to spend a cple hundred dollars to save very little time pulling them?

          couple hundred bucks???? last time i seen one i recall it not being really exspensive.

          ive never had had good luck with pulling the springs with the heads on the motor, u always get that one valve that will drop and ur pulling the head at that point anyway.

          worse comes to worse ill pull a spring from each side and check them with the bench tester,but id rather check them all

          or ill just wait till i get my spare block back from the machine shop and test them when the heads come off

              ill have to try the rope trick,never done it that way before,ive always used the compressed air with the fitting in the sparkplug hole
