i sure miss the way that 455 sounded. around 5000 rpm the sound changed, like it was being wound up too tight. it was amazing at 5500-5700 rpm!!!! man!!! that and the bow tie rear end! i was two years old when my Dad bought it for $800.

      I have a 87 Fiero GT

5 speed 155,000 miles, runs and looks good. I don't expect no more Pontiac to have any effect on old Pontiacs.

well, if im remembering right, a factory 455 redlined around 5,200rpm. lots of people hate pontiac engine because they 'blow up'. well they do so because they're not meant to rev. they're torque monsters. low rpm's are where they make the power. my dad has a scar on his right leg where my mom squeezed his leg and dug her nails into him because she was afraid of the acceleration. he was only doing 25mph at that point haha

455 red line is 5000. you get valve float much over that. the engine i had saw somewhere over 6500 on a broken clutch and didn't break.

Interestingly, the G8 might survive rebadged as a Chevy. Unfortunately though, it might only be available to the police.
