      www.icanhascheezburger.com?

I has messed with a Pontiac from old when living at home (with my grandparents). My grampa had an old 63 Pontiac Catalina he let me mess with. Red, 2 door, white hard top, 389ci. I wanted to fix that car so bad but it had rust holes in the frame and would have needed a buttload of work more then I could offer it as a high school student :/

I found a pic of a 64 that was the same color, but the one I was messing with wasn't a convertible, or this good of shape (of course). I thought a couple of the coolest features it has was the external side mirror on the front fender, the red Indian head that served as your high beam indicator, the metal dash (that you would want to avoid like the plague in an accident), and the wide swinging speedo that read 120mph. Grampa hit a deer with it on the way to his A-frame doing 60 with a trailer with 2 dirt bikes on it and it pushed the front grill in 1 inch. Try that with a modern car, lol.

As a GM tech working in a GMC-Buick-Pontiac shop - New, in stock a . . . G3. And we thought the Vibe was a POS. The problem is that the GM execs have their heads up their a _ _es and can't see past the $$$$ signs. All "business types" and not enough "car guys" running the show anymore. The latest is their going to axe 1500 or so engineers in the near future, which means that their going to let go the old guys that know something about cars (they made their mistakes and learned from them over the years) and keep the dweebs from MIT that will work for cheap as they're just out of school.

That's a shame, but I just saw tonight that Rick Wagonner got the axe. Whic is good, because I hated him. Hopefully they get someone in there that says 'enough' to this same car across three brands stuff.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

I don't mind it so much. It makes it easier for people like us to get parts because of availability and cost to mass produce them.

Nope... :/ 2bbl Rochester. The original 2 speed powerglide had been replaced by a 3 speed hydromatic model too, reverse shift pattern and all (P N D 1 R).

The Pontiac Phoenix was a compact car sold from 1977 to 1984 by the Pontiac division of General Motors. There were two generations of the Phoenix, both based on popular Chevrolet models, and both using the GM X platform architecture:

1977–1979 — RWD Chevrolet Nova clone, available as a 2-door coupe or a 4-door sedan. In 1979 was there also the 4 door hatch vailable as LJ and SJ Available engines were a 3.8 L V6 and a 305 cubic inch V8, mated to a 3 speed either manual or automatic and a 4 speed floor mounted manual transmission.
                      1980–1984 — FWD Chevrolet Citation clone, available as a 2-door coupe or a 5-door hatchback. Available engines were a 2.5 L 4 cylinder and a 2.8 L V6, mated to a 3 speed automatic or 4 speed manual transmission.
The Phoenix was replaced by the GRAND AM in 1985.

I guess GM is completely retarded. It really isn't a surprise. Pontiac hasn't done much in the last few years, when in comparison to 2002 and earlier. The Grand Am used to be the biggest nameplate Pontiac made, if not GM. Since then the replacement(G6) just hasn't made the same sales.

i've never been a fan of the new overpriced GTO. nice up and go power but boring outside. the inside is all low quality crap, and it felt disconnected from the road while cornering. i had a 66 GTO...a real GTO. GM disgraced the GTO name by importing a car from another country. the original GTO was an all American muscle car, and even today, continues to increase in value--whereas the new GTO will decrease fast.

                              BTW, i own 2 04 Pontiac GA's, i got the V6, and one Chevy

i grew up with 2 GTO's too. one of the simple things that pissed me off most, was the hood on the '04. NO GTO EVER CAME WITHOUT HOOD SCOOPS!!!
and i dont like how it was imported either. though(not to argue in any way)i couldnt find anything but the highest quality in anything the car had to offer.
