I remembered this thread from awhile back on mymonte.com and figured I'd post it to see reactions.
Ok, so this is another of my fantasy what-if threads. Assume you just hit the lottery- got yourself a real nice house (or two) with a big garage, and you set aside enough money to comfortably live like that for the rest of your life- there are a few local neighbors who are car nuts that seem to sweep this neighborhood car show every year- and you want to buy one car from each category to beat them (because your is cooler/faster/whatever) What would you get?
The assumption is you're loaded, so price isn't a factor, and we'll assume with the money that you'll be able to get your hands on just about anything (assuming it isn't a 1 off or prototype piece).
In these categories: year, car, color, special options/add ons
Small/Compact sports car: 1992 Nissan 240SX hatchback- SR20DET motor swap with custom body kit
SUV/Truck (needs a trailer hitch): 08 Chevy Silverado 1500 4X4 LTZ Crew Cab, Granite Blue Metallic w/ tan interior
High end exotic/supercar: 2007 Tesla Roadster, all electric supercar
Classic car/Classic Muscle (pre '80): 1966 Chevrolet Corvair, LG5 3.1L 60* V6 Turbo engine swap.
Luxury car: 2008 Cadillac XLR-V
Track only car (does not need to be street legal): 1988 Pontiac Fiero- twin turbo LQ1 engine swap.
Daily driver (sub $100k price tag- something you could drive every day): 2002 Cadillac Eldorado ETC
Oddball (anything goes): 1976 Lancia Scorpion, custom paintjob and flip up headlamp bonnets, LQ1 motor swap.
So what would you pick for these categories?
