Don't want to bump an old post, but for others that might have this problem and find this in a search.
High pitched vibration in steering wheel - Cheap wheel bearing I replaced failed shortly. Replaced it because a stud spun when I was using a ratchet to take off the lug nuts (!!!) Put new TIMKEN quality bearing on and the vibration was gone. Cheap crappy bearing did not spin well either. Drivers side bearing was a cheap one too I put on when trying to track down the problem but it was a different brand and is so far so good.
The out of balance shake was a sagged transmission mount. The transmission case (structural valve body side cover) was rubbing on the subframe causing the car to shake/shudder under certain loads. Replaced the transmission mount and that problem is solved.
So it's all good in the hood! LOL
